National Rate & Ent Book Coupon

We are taking a very spur of the moment trip. I was resigning myself to using Magical Express, but just can't seem to bring myself to do that.

I am using National's revised website for the first time, and boy do they need to get the kinks worked out.

I presently have booked an intermediate for pickup on Nov 5 at 9:00 a.m. and return on November 7 at 9:00 p.m.
Using am-ex contract from Mousesaver's
and Nationals $10.00 of 3-day rental from their site.

My total is $76.88

Is there a National coupon that gets me a better rate, or is there anything else I can do to reduce this. I am used to paying less than $20 per day, and what I have is a little higher than that. Since we weren't expecting to take this trip, I am kind of out of the loop on what has been happening with rental rates lately.

what about the "Free weekend day" available on the entertainment book website

just a twist though,

you no longer are taken to the "coupon" but to a reservation page where the number is added in the coupon box, when you get the quote it says "coupon accepted", thus,do not know if you now do not need to have the physical coupon or if you need to produce the coupon from your entertainment book

you used to be able to print the coupon off from the entertainment website once it took you to nationalcar.com

O.K., I booked one with the coupon code, but long story----

When I booked first thing this morning, the site would not take the CID no. from my credit card. I called, they said log in without using my emerald no. and just use the rates and reservations tab without logging in, book reservation and it will allow you to enter your emerald no. And it did, this morning.

So I went and booked a second reservation using the Ent. book code for the free weekend day (and it made a difference of $15.00, thank you lawgs, but it never gave me a spot for my emerald no. on this ressie. So I called again, and they entered it for me. In the conversation, she confirmed all the details of the ressie and then said, make sure you bring the coupon with you. I don't want to buy a 2005 book this late in the year. Will a 2006 coupon be usable now? Anybody have a coupon they won't be using from this year? or any other ideas?

The 2006 coupon is the only one you can use right now. The 2005 coupons expire Nov.1, 2005; that's true for most of the coupons in thw whole book (some are good through Decemeber, but not many.)

So you're all set!

sort of. Now I need to figure out if I want to buy the book for $25.00 to save $15.00 in the off chance that I may use something else in the book.

We had people in our office selling a local citipass kind of thing and that is what I already purchased. Not sure if I want/need both or not.

did you try the priceless contract id also????

no need to.....just checked the rate with amex contract and the difference on three day base rate is a,most 35$ ....amex is a good contract code

there is a place at the bottom of the general reservation page to put in your Emerald CLub number and last name

That is what I got with the Am-Ex code and Ent coupon, too, along with product code eweb. Thanks for double checking for me.

One more thing. When I called National about adding my Emerald No. she had to do a whole new reservation, she gave me a new confirmation no. When I went to cancel the one without the Emerald no. on it I got a warning that there could be a cancellation penalty. Just when to they enforce the cancellation penalties. I now have 2 reservations and wonder by when do I have to cancel one of them?

methinks that is just "legalese" on national part .....sort like the fine print that says .....company reserves the right to change this policy at any time

another twist i found with this new website, they now send you a friendly reminder of upcoming reservations

we got one yesterday for our upcoming weekend rental in baltimore, thus this help when we book more than one ressie
