I may need a rental car for our upcoming trip. Originally thought DH would drive down, but MIL needs surgery and they're working on that schedule. It may be right during our trip. (MIL is a wonderful person and DH should be with his mom. 8yo DD and I wouldn't be much help though, so we're going to fly down as originally planned.)

Anyway, I've been playing with codes, coupons, etc. and have a reservation with National for $190 (including taxes, etc.) for an intermediate.

The reservation is for 8 days (10/24 through 11/1); I'm a Disney Club member and used the "old" contract ID; I also found a $15.00 coupon. I'm Emerald Aisle, too.

Is that about as good as I can do? I've checked Mousesavers and run lots of algorithms. Am I missing some great discount somewhere?

Thanks!

The National rates haven't been good for the last few months (actually for the last year, unless you book way ahead). That seems to be in the ballpark for an 8 day EA rental. Can't recall reading of any better discounts. The entertainment book has a $20 coupon, which would bring it down $5, and that's as low as I've seen in over a month.

People who booked last winter/spring were able to get significantly lower rates. I booked EA in early July and a few weeks later was able to get it down from just over $200 to about $175 with everything included. It hasn't been that low since.

BUT, keep checking and keep an eye on this board to see if anyone posts a drop in rates.

Thanks kda. A friend is giving me her Entertainment coupon -- $5 is $5.

Sandi, as an EA member I do believe that you are entitled to a full-size car for the same price as an intermediate car. You might want to check into that.

Emerald Club members used to be able to switch the "intermediate" car size to "full" when booking on line and the price was the same. If there weren't any full size cars on the EA, we could go to the "full size" aisle and choose a car. That changed within the past year when National instituted the new Emerald Choice option, which allows EC members to book the size car they want and go to that aisle, select a car, and drive away ---- avoiding the ticket counter. Any time I've priced a 'full' size car in the last few months, the price is higher than EA rate and 'EA' switches to 'Emerald Reserve'.

HI,
They changed that last March. BUT....they still have full size on the aisle and sometimes mini vans and suvs.

My friend was able to get a full size on the EA when she was there in September. I don't need a full size, but that would be nice. I'm not counting on it.

I got one too, there were many full size on the EA last visit.
