National Lampoon's February Quest For Fun!!~ LIVE UPDATE 2/9 post 852

Hi there and :welcome: Glad you came over!

That is too funny about SeaWorld and sounds like something that we would have done! :rotfl2:

Our last park day is actually the 12th. We will be on our way home on the 13th. So sad. I always hate leaving. :sad1:

We're planning on hitting MK that first night.

Yep! I'm watching the Saints while Dising today! :thumbsup2

I'm so upset! I can't believe 2 in a row.

So, as I said before, Santa forgot something in his sleigh. I asked DS if he wanted to leave out milk, cookies, & carrots again on Christmas Eve since we had been watching Santa on the Norad online before he went to bed. He was so excited to do it again and was hoping that Santa would stop and eat his cookies & milk and feed Rudolph the carrots again. He didn't say anything about more presents. :thumbsup2 He was so surprised when he got up the next morning. This is what Santa left on round 2....

He also left a few fun things for DS to do during our drive to WDW. The capsules are for the bathtub. He loves doing this. Since the 1 bedroom villa's at OKW have the big jacuzzi tub, we usually bring these along with a new boat each trip. The capsules melt in water and out pops little sponges in the shapes of animals and such. This time I got bugs. :rotfl: He loves them! Can't wait to use them.

A side note about the boat for the bathtub...... those of you who read my last TR may remember DH almost cutting his finger off last trip when trying to open the last boat!! We ended up in the ER so he could get sewed back up. :sad2: I can't remember what the actual bill for that was but I do remember that he got 4 stitches and our "share" of the bill after insurance was $400!!! Needless to say, I am opening the boat BEFORE we leave this time and will just hide it in a bag in my suitcase somewhere.

Now that the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday's have passed it is time to start gearing up for that trip to WDW!! :woohoo: On Christmas morning I made us a breakfast of Mickey head pancakes. DS was in heaven! I even got to use my Mickey spatula that I got last trip. :thumbsup2

Now, I introduce to you.....THE COUNTDOWN CALENDAR OF 2010!!!!!! :cheer2::dance3::yay::banana:

This year DS and I did it together. We got the stickers from the scrapbook section at Target and the Mickey heads.....well, any good Diser knows where those come from. :thumbsup2

My first ever countdown calendar, I put stickers under each Mickey head. That was sufficient when DS was 2 but now I found that putting pictures of attractions is much more exciting. It makes it exciting for DH and myself too because each day that DS pulls one off we get to talk about the attraction that's under it. It makes the time going by a little more bearable.

An update on what else I've been doing........

I found out that the last DVD burner that I had was a piece of junk. How did I find that out?? Well, we got a new one and now all the home movies that I burned from our video camera to DVD won't play on ANY OTHER DVD PLAYER!! :scared1: Half of the tapes I have are from our old video camera. I am SO GLAD that we never threw that thing out or gave it away when we got a new one. The past 2 days I have been re-burning old home video's to DVD. It takes a long time because I have so many! I will probably have the past 5 years worth of tapes burned in about 5 more years! j/k I am enjoying watching them with DS. Now that he is 5 he really enjoy's seeing himself as a baby. TOO CUTE!

Soon I will be venturing out to start getting a few clothing items (sweaters) for our trip. Maybe some new jeans too. DEFINITELY some travel sized items. :thumbsup2 Can't wait!!! :yay:

I love your countdown calendar with the attraction pics underneath. And the Mickey head pancakes look yummy!

Your countdown calander is really cute. I can't wait until I can make one with my dd.

cute countdown! I need to make me one when I get home.

We had a lot of fun making it together this year. :thumbsup2

Thank you :goodvibes
:rotfl2: I have a bad feeling he will want to try to wrestle with another one BECAUSE of what happened last time. Therefore I am definitely going to purchase AND open the boat (if it comes in packaging) this time before DH even sees it! :thumbsup2

your calander looks great,

and the mickey pancakes, i used to make em like that for wife and son, but last trip we got a little plastic mold you put on the skillet when cooking that makes em all in one without seperate pours.

it works pretty good, got it in the kitchen section of world of disney

OOOH!!!! I'm putting that mold on my list. I plan on visiting that store already. Each time I go from now on I'm going to visit that store and get 1-2 things. (I decided that last time I went because I wanted too many things!)

Last trip I wanted the toaster but can you believe they had NONE??!!! :scared1: This time I'm thinking about the toaster and a cookie jar. We shall see which one I come home with. :thumbsup2

Better late than never. I am finally making it to your PTR. Love the first chapter. We, too, have a lot of Griswold tendencies. Going back to read the rest.

Awesome pix of Santas 2nd visit !!! The pancakes look yummy!!!You are so talented with the Countdown calendar !!Can't believe we are well under 40 days now:banana::banana:

what about the character waffle maker?

that looks really cool as well.

About a month ago I got an email asking us to sign up for a "webisode" for Disney's Vacation Club. The webisode aired online I think the 17th or 18th of this month. As usual, we just can't make the cost of this work for us so that's sort of a bummer. But for watching we did get a free gift!!! They sent us a Disney lithograph which I plan on framing along with the one I got for joining D23. :thumbsup2

Here is the one sent from DVC:

On to planning stuff...... I have a baggalinni messenger bag that was purchased last year. It is red. I really like it but I got red because I already had a messenger bag (of a different brand) in black. Well, I started thinking about which camera(s) to bring on this trip. I really want to bring my bigger point and shoot Sony camera. It takes such good pictures but is more bulky. It's not the size of a full DSLR, but it still takes a bigger bag than what I usually carry to the parks. Every time I bring this camera I have a bag dilema. I still haven't found a bag that I'm comfortable with. HOWEVER, I put the camera in my red baggalinni and practiced pulling it out and putting it in around the house. I'm thinking this may actually work!! The only problem with this bag is there is no cushioning. I can modify that, though. So I think it's official! The bag I will use this trip is the baggalinni messenger bag. I got to thinking about the fact that I may not want to carry a bright red bag around every single day. So I decided to get a black one. So online I go..... I tried ebags.com and they wanted 40-something bucks! With shipping it would have been around $50. :sad2: NOPE!! Not doing it. I KNOW I didn't spend that much on the exact same bag last year. So I started poking around and found that bagbuy.com had the bag listed for $44.95 along with 17% off which puts it at $37.45! I then noticed a special "one day code" at the top of the page for an extra 20% off, PLUS free shipping!! :yay: I put the bag in my cart and started to check out. It asked me if I'd like to register for their site while I checked out so I chose that option. I'm glad I did because when it showed me the total, it had taken off an ADDITIONAL $3 for being a "member". So i got the $44.95 bag for $26.96!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: SCORE!!!!!
Here is a link to the bag and where I got it....

Ok so sticking with the past pictures theme, let's continue on!! Our NEXT trip was in May 2008. This was my "make up trip" that DH said to book since I was sick during the previous trip. I also dropped and broke my camera during the last trip so this trip is full of pictures from the new camera.....the bulky one that I plan to bring this time! It takes such beautiful pictures! Since this trip was our 2nd in one year, we downgraded our hotel costs and stayed at Port Orleans Riverside. We originally wanted to stay at Caribbean beach but it was booked solid. So was Coronado Springs. We always said we'd NEVER stay at the Port Orleans resorts because we are from Louisiana. What is the point of going all the way to Florida to stay back in Louisiana??:confused3 But since this is what they had, this is where we stayed. WE LOVED IT!!!!!! I'm actually glad it all happened that way because we got to enjoy a really beautiful resort. :thumbsup2

This was also the trip when Jordan sent me a flat version of himself. So we had the "many adventures of flat jordan" on this trip. This was also during the Flower & Garden festival.

I will probably do this particular trip in a few installments since this trip was so picture heavy. Ok enough babbling! Here are pictures from May 2008.

More to come.............

Better late than never. I am finally making it to your PTR. Love the first chapter. We, too, have a lot of Griswold tendencies. Going back to read the rest.

Hi there and :welcome: to my new PTR! Glad to see you here.

I think most families do have Griswold tendencies. :lmao:

Awesome pix of Santas 2nd visit !!! The pancakes look yummy!!!You are so talented with the Countdown calendar !!Can't believe we are well under 40 days now:banana::banana:

Thanks Rosie!
I know!! So exciting!! :woohoo:

what about the character waffle maker?

that looks really cool as well.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Funny you should mention that. DH bought this really crappy waffle maker. The thing is.....he was so proud of himself for getting this thing. :rolleyes1 I mean, I know why, we eat a lot of waffles for breakfast when we are at WDW. We usually stay at OKW and make our own each morning. I'm sure he wanted to have that WDW reminder at home.....I know I do. I'm just not sure why he bought this hideous broke down waffle maker. :lmao: I haven't gotten rid of it because I know it was from his heart. But you have now given me a waffle maker outlet. :thumbsup2 Perhaps this trip we will come home with a waffle maker instead?? :confused3 Read my TR to find out what appliance I come home with! popcorn:: :rotfl2:

That is cool Santa brough ds something else :goodvibes
