National codes..AAA *may be good minivan rate..check the rules*5/19 update*

I just redid mine AGAIN. Used the AAA code along with Entertainment $20 discount coupon on a full size, 8 days, $134.67. :cool1:

Sticking with our National reservation for an intermediate for $99.20 Emerald Aisle (for 5 days soon). Felt more comfortable than the ALamo min-SUV for $118, with both bypassing the counter. Did cancel the other reservations 2 days ago. Thanks for all the great advice. People are so helpful. Caroline

I agree! People think im crazy, but I feel much more roomy in a G6 then a minisuv. I also like the emerald aisle, and having the possibility of getting a minivan or convertable...

AInWonderland, in 7 years of using and reading about National, I have never seen nor heard of any limitation on use of codes.coupons, etc. Now, that is not to say there can't be a first time. Personally, I would not concern myself, but that is me. I would say though, that the code referenced by lawgs above, I would probably not use.

disneymom72, I see. Well, yes, all locations, where you are renting, are going to be different. A place like Orlando is very competitive, so rates would generally be less.

I have to chime in here. I have used the following AmEx National code for a few years at different places and have always gotten great rates:5125601

I just booked a midsize (Pontiac G6/grand am size) for a Thursday thru Tuesday in late August to be picked up at John Wayne Airport for $123.86 total. I got a similar rate when I rented thru them in San Francisco back in Sept/Oct 2004. I have used that code at least once here in Orlando (before I moved here). Please note, it did not really work for me when I went home to Philadelphia at Christmas.

Orlando is the most competitve market in the US. You have all the "legacy" companies competing, and then you have all the "crappy" places (Contiental, Payless and EZ) driving down the prices of the legacy companies (this means EXCELLENT prices!!)...

I' m so jealous of all you all! I have been trying to get a decent rate for our trip at the end of July and haven't been able to come up with anything less than $200. We only need a small car..don't care what kind. I have even tried picking up a car at the Car Care Center and using ME to get from the airport and back but that still only knocked a couple of bucks off the price.

The code: 10009416 is that a AAA code and do you have to be a member for the 2 car class upgrade? We're going for 10 days leaving in June. I plugged in my BJs code and the above # and was quoted $208.XX upgraded to a Chevy Uplander. Would I be able to bypass the counter as well? I just joined the Emerald Club. If that code is for AAA members only or UoW students, faculty, etc. then I couldn't use it. It would be awesome if I could use though! Thanks for any help!

Dan!!

I am soooo excited! I've been trying to find a deal for the July 4th week and everything was so expensive.

I got the minivan for $220 WITH unlimited miles and the LDW included.

This is by FAR the best deal I could find! And the best part is I could get it from the National location that's near my home and I don't have to shlep all the way to the airport...

Loving it!!! Thanks, AGAIN!

I recently saw a post that said if you use the upgrade coupon (the 10009416)you need to go through the counter. I'm a bit confused since the coupon says go to the counter yet my reservation is Emerald Reserve and says go to the lot. The face of that particular coupon doesn't have the restrictions nor does the reservation. The restrictions that you noted that I did see somewhere go as far as family and consultants (I think) of UW so I'm not sure if there's any particular id you'd have to show. I'm holding a reservation using it and am waiting for any posts from people who used it.

We've used National coupons on the Aisle all the time at MCO without going to the counter. With Alamo you do have to go to the counter (long lines) but not with their partner National.

Yep, same result here. Normally, they dont even ask for the coupon either!

I am going from 10/1 to 10/06 and I am seeing some scary rates from boht MCO and the Dolphin.

AM I trying to book to far out?

I will be picking up my minivan this Friday the 26th around lunchtime. I will post to let everyone know how it went.

After researching until my fingers hurt from combining coupons and codes, I have found your combination with National (AAA w/double upgrade) to be the best. For dates in late August, I already have a 9 day Minivan rental for below $300! I suspect it may come down a little bit more, too. However, I did reserve today.

As far as why that coupon works for full size to minivan, I don't know. However, I have a double upgrade coupon from BJ's and it doesn't give full size as an option. Since the system doesn't allow that one, but does allow the 10009416, I am fairly confident it will be fine.

Thank you, again.

Okay, now I am going :offtopic:
A little while back I posted with questions regarding August car rentals. I was soliciting advice regarding what others were getting for rates, what coupons and codes seemed to offer the best rates, etc. I was stunned by the response I initially got. Basically, I was told to do the work myself and not try to get my fellow Disers to do it for me. I actually engaged in a bit of a back-and-forth exchange with one particular poster.

I was shocked, at the time. I couldn't believe that the place where I have come for a few years now for all my best Disney info had gotten so nasty! It left a sour taste for me. However, I didn't give up. Now, I am back to being a Dis Believer!

:thanks: So Dan, thank you for not only helping me get a decent car rental rate but for restoring my faith in the Dis! Amen!

Great! I'm a little concerned that I'll get a gas guzzler, LOL!

I called my location and he told me they have Buick Terrazas, Uplanders, and Dodge Caravans. I hope I have a choice on my day!

i modified my reservation using 5766241 and 10009416 to upgrade from compact to full side for 3 days. One thing I noticed is that I got loss damage waiver full included in my 3 day rental. My rental period is 8/14 to 8/17/06. It was $130.72 for 3 full days. If I used 6100120 it was $116.51 without insurance. I'll still be checking as my trip gets closer.
i've looked (on mousesavers also) but can't find the 6100120 code listed. may i ask where you got it from? (just in case it's one requiring membership, etc)
ty :sunny:

edited: found out ~ it's AARP (which <gulp> i've become eligable for very recently :guilty: ).
now just to decide whether it's worth joining
