If you happened to have read any of my recent posts, I've been concerned about our 10/5 flight out of Reagan National airport. My flight is still showing that it's 'on', but the airport remains closed.
Here's my update.
Yesterday I called my travel agent, who said the flight is still scheduled to fly. I wanted to know when they'd cut bait and let me move to another airport. She couldn't give me an answer. She said she noticed my flight's times had changed for the third time in as many weeks. She suggested I call American directly and tell them that the rescheduled flight was not acceptable to me.
I did just that and got a wonderfully polite, patient and helpful agent on the line. He said there was only one alternative flight, and it arrived in Orlando after midnight. Nope, unacceptable. It seems all 3 DC-area airports American flights go to Miami first and all catch the same connection from Miami to Orlando. The only difference between all of the flight choices boiled down to how long I'd wait for that MIA-MCO connection.
Therefore, since all of the options were unacceptable to me, he offered to refund my tickets at full price. I then took that money and purchased new tickets on Southwest out of BWI - non-stop, to boot!
So, maybe it'll work for you, too, if you're concerned. Tell them the schedule changes are not OK with you and maybe you can cancel altogether. (And how many of us DON'T have rescheduled flights these days?!)
Good luck,
