The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Owners & Lovers Group - 3.0

“Disney has begun limiting access to one of its most famous theme park hotels to guests who have a reservation preventing all other theme park-goers from experiencing its spellbinding surroundings.” Disneyland Paris….

How about doing this @ DCA….
Wouldn’t be a bad idea. It’s set up that way with all the security exit/entrance points. Going in there gives me the “am I allowed in?..feeling” as it is.

Have they recently added more security? We haven't been in over a year. But last summer, I remember seeing one security guard in the lobby area. But he wasn't stopped to ask for room keys or anything like that.

I know that security stops to check for a reservation before driving up to the door. But other than that, I feel like pretty much anyone can just walk in, especially from the DTD side.

All still good to visit. Checks not happening like Paris post changes. Just that each spot to enter. (Front, DCA, & Downtown Disney) has that security area you pass. (Currently freely). They could easily adapt each spot to check for guest or reservation to enter.

The gate was fully open when we went in October for anyone to just walk in from the front outside. I feel like there's more security at the lobby in WDW.

Well I noticed at BCV there was a man dressed like a captain and he was asking us A LOT of questions to the point I thought, does he think we're not staying here

Does anyone know if he is a security? I feel like you cant walk in the lobby of some of these WDW hotels, BWV too, without being stopped and greeted, I wondered if this was an extra security measure or them just welcoming you.

Recently they had guards near the elevators but we weren't asked to show room key. It seemed that they were only monitoring elevators.

I think it's a very reasonable thing to do if they still allow people with a spa reservation or a restaurant reservation to get in. I know the restaurants and the spa get a lot of business from non hotel guests and since those are spendy things, they can hang out in the lobby and have a drink afterwards. 😛

Yes, just no using our lobby as a cut through to walk back to the Westin…. and dont allow people to sleep in chairs in the lobby….

I really wish they would limit some of the crowds in the lobby! Any time we stay there, we always wander down to listen to the band
and relax in the evening and there is never anywhere to sit so we stand for awhile and head somewhere else. It's frustrating. Especially when you see people sleeping on the chairs or taking up a whole couch to lay down to sleep. I understand snoozing for a short time if you are waiting for your room to be ready, but I assume that a lot of people who aren't staying there and are just taking a break from the parks, especially when it is past 3 or 4 in the afternoon.

I don’t understand snoozing when waiting for a room….. or after 11am checkout….. check your bags and go sleep in a pool chair….

I got my survey about my stay and the survey asked if I felt the lobby was too crowded. I answered YES
I don't have another VGC reservation until May. I need to remember to mention how the rocking chairs are always full with midday napping. And, how when I was waiting for my husband to get out of the spa, I couldn't find anywhere on the property to sit. Granted, we were staying at VDH at the time. So, maybe I was the annoying visitor. 🤣 He had 2 different treatments that day. We spent over $600. for his spa visit. I just wanted to sit down for 10 minutes. 🤷

You can usually tell when someone has been there longer than they should be. You y be able to find somewhere to sit for a few minutes.

Luckily my 1 year old granddaughter had no issue finding a rocking chair to sit in and watch cartoons. 🤣. She was obsessed.

Before we ever stayed at the Grand Californian, I think we visited the lobby twice. Just to look around and snap a few pics. Sat down for a couple minutes. That was it. Even now, that's pretty much all we do.

Do they still take food orders and serve food to people in the lobby or was that a temporary thing? On one of our past trips, we saw a menu on a lobby table and people eating at another one. I was not a fan of that and I hope they got rid of it!

Why would being able to order food or drinks at the tables be an issue?

For some reason people with laptops love parking themselves in those chairs
