I just can't believe that my baby is 11 months old today. It has all gone so very fast and he has changed so much. I now find myself planning his 1st birthday party and while it is fun to plan it is making me a little sad. He is so much more of a toddler/little boy now than he is a baby. Maybe I need another baby? - Nah...not yet! ;) :p

We will be having his party either the weekend before or after his actual b-day (his birthday is on a Wednesday) but I don't know which one yet because my MIL still has to get back with me. I am doing a Mickey Mouse theme (shocker! ;) ). I have my cake pans and I am really getting excited about making my first theme cake. I have one large and one little individual size pan that matches. The large one is for the guests and then Nathan gets his very own little cake to dig in with. :) I am also making lots of goodies for everyone to eat in addition to the cake. DS loves spaghetti so we will also be having a big family spaghetti dinner that evening.

Anybody have any suggestions for other special things we can do on that day?

The party sounds so fun! :D

Nathan is such a cutie! They grow waaaay too fast, don't they?

Be sure to post us some pics of his party. I would love to see what he looks like after getting into that cake!

ITs fun watching them grow but sad at the same time they are no longer "babies". Connor will be a year old on April 25. He is my last baby so its kind of sad I wont get to go through the baby stuff again.

And doing a Mickey cake means lots of chocolate icing! When my youngest turned 1 (he's now 11), I made a teddy bear cake. He got into that cake and had chocolate icing all over his face! That is still one of my favorite pics of him---this smeared chocolate face, sticking up hair and 2 little white eyes, and an expression that said "I can't understand why everybody's laughing."

Be sure you use a plastic apron-type bib and plastic on the floor. Enjoy!!

Time just FLIES by doesn't it? Wait'll he looks down at you and calls you his "little Mom"... :earseek: .... I still can't get used to it!!

Try to make the morning of the party (or day, depending on the time) as normal as possible....helps to ensure naps, which help to ensure a happy baby!

For Daniel's first birthday in February, he had a quiet morning and napped as usual. The party was set for 12, my MIL was coming over early to spend time with him. She got there at 11, not long after he woke up from his nap. But he started rubbing his face, even though he had only been up for a half hour and had napped for 2 hours. Well, we put him back down anyway. He napped for another half hour and woke up the happiest kid ever. Had a great time!

Also, we gave him our gifts separately...on the day of his birthday instead of the day of the party. Little ones can get so overwhelmed!

Lastly, make sure you have a fresh tape in the video camera and lots of film for the regular one.

Have a great time! And congrats to Nathan...almost a whole year old.
