Just recently got back from an amazing 4 night cruise on the Magic (Nassau, Lookout Cay)! There are already a ton of incredible trip reports out there (many of which I read before my sailing! So helpful!), so I won’t bore anyone with all the details. But I do want to share what I got up to in Nassau in case that helps anyone decide their plans for the port.
This was my first visit to Nassau and I was travelling solo (40s F). Didn’t really see any excursions that I was interested in (either through Disney or independent companies), so I decided to do my own thing. I hear a lot of concerns about safety in Nassau, but I had absolutely zero issues. I stuck to the main touristy areas and felt completely safe as a female travelling alone. Everyone I encountered was friendly and welcoming. The few people who approached offering taxi services or tours respected a ‘no thank you.’ Streets are narrow and busy, but so long as you stay alert it isn’t too bad.
I walked down to the Pirate Museum ($14)…then over to the National Art Gallery ($10)…then over to John Watlings distillery (free tours)…had a snack (conch fritters!) at Vell Monkey Foot…then did a little shopping on the way back to the ship and at the port (Graycliff chocolates, Blackbeard rum cakes, and Tasty Teas).
Overall I spent about 4 hours out and about and it was a great opportunity to stretch my legs and see a little bit of Nassau.
