I have been planning for a year, but now that it is getting close I seem to have more questions than ever! We are booked for the Nassau Historic City tour in the am and in the pm we planned on taking a taking a taxi to Atlantis. I thought we (there is just 2 of us) would just walk around, look at the shops, maybe do a bit of gambling.. Just lately though, I saw a post that said to see the grounds and casino you have to pay $25. I previously thought that $25 was only necessary if you wanted to go to the dig. Can someone enlighten me? Did I misread this?

You don't need to pay to use the casinos.

Well at least not directly...you end up paying for it anyway...the house always wins.

I posted not to long ago about a pass that you could purchase that allows you acess to the Atlantis beach and some of the other areas that are only available to hotel guests...the pass is around $25. To just go to Atlantis on your own...to use the Casino...there is no fee (just the cost of getting there and what you decided to spend once there). You can also pay $25 to go through the dig.

I found the infomation on the pass on a Nassau tourist information web page.

DH took a trip over to Atlantis just recently. There is no charge to walk around the main building, see the shops (Gucci, Cartier, etc.), casino, or restaurants. If you wanted to walk through the aquarium, you need to purchase the wristband. There are certain areas that are off limits unless you are a hotel guest, like the pool and beach.

We did play some slot machines and we walked around the marina to check out some of the yachts. Other than that, I wasn't really impressed with the resort. We're not smokers and that probably had something to do with it. There was smoking in the casinos and pretty much all areas of the resort. We stayed for about an hour and then we went back to the ship.

And I've said this on other threads..but I think you can't warn about this too much.

There are "locals" who are not affiliated with the hotel in any way, but who try to mislead tourists into thinking DO work for Atlantis. They try to sell you what, I believe, are stolen or expired wristbands for The Dig. We found this out the hard way..doh! When you go, take the cab to the resort and speak to someone at Guest Services about wristbands, if you're getting them.

You can also get this pass at the hotel itself...as noted on the web site.

So the official Atlantis pass is $25.00? This allows you to use the pool also? If so it's a bargin. That place is incredible. We had free passes but didn't think to plan on using the pool so we just walked the grounds and went to the Dig. Next time we will use the pool area for the day. The food & beverage prices are very high FYI. Oh, we won $150.00 on the first slot we played! LOL Then left the casino.

No, the pass does not allow you to use the pools or the beach. You have to stay at the resort or at an affiliated hotel I think. Someone can tell you exactly what that is.

In fact, if you set foot on the beach these security guys come over and beat you with sticks. Ok, not really, but there's big scary signs that say the beach and pools are for resort guests only...even worse than the signs in Disney that say you can't pool hop.

Thanks, everyone! You've all confirmed my original beliefs. It's a bit unnerving? to have your plans put into doubt so close to departure, when you've been planning for a year and thought you were all set! I plan on being flexible but there's not enough time on Nassau to be completely wrong.

The last time we went, we rented a room for the day at Atlantis so that we could use all their amenities. There were 4 adults and 2 children. We just rented one room and I think it was around $300. Then, we could use/do whatever we wanted. We didn't really enjoy it though (it was december of 03 and the weather was bad) and will not be getting off the ship this time (feb 05).
