I am on the Dream with my 7 year old son in October 2019 and trying to figure out what to do on our Nassau day.

I am tempted to do the Atlantis Aquaventure with DCL because the pools, kids splash area, beach and aquarium look nice. I'm just not sure if my son will like the water slides and I heard that the "lazy river that is not a lazy river" (the Current) is quite rough and people sometimes get thrown from their inner tubes.
My son is over 48" (big for his age) so I think he meets the height requirement but I'm worried that he will find the slides scary.

My questions are:
1. How scary are the slides? Are they dark? fast? big drops? Can we share a tube so that we go together? We have done the slides at Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara Falls (Canada) and I'm not sure how they compare to Aquaventure
2. Is it worth doing Aquaventure just for the pools, splash area, aquarium and beach? In other words, are those things fun for a 7 year old? I have heard so many mixed things about the beach area and it's not clear to me what parts of the beach we would be allowed to use
3. Are we better off doing something like Blue Lagoon which is cheaper?

thank you

You can find YouTube videos on the slides to see what they are like. Some slides are singles only and some have double tubes. It was very crowded when we went, so we only went on one slide and spend most of the day between the pool, the splash area and the lazy river.

@brownmajik, how did you like the pools and the lazy river?

I plan on taking my 7 year old daughter in August. We went when she was 5, and she enjoyed Rapid River with daddy in 2 person tube and the splash area. We have watched some YouTube videos and are targeting some double tube rides that we did not do previously. We purchased through Bahamas Day Pass, and for the Shallow Water Dolphin Experience plus access to Aquaventure it was $100 less per person than the Disney price for the same activity. I can update on our experience in mid-August.

I visit Atlantis annually. Here's some YouTube videos of the slides:

Regarding beaches, there's only one that sort-of-off-limits, but its out of the way. All beaches in the Bahamas are public to the high water mark, but on one particular out of the way beach Atlantis only allows people from the reef and cove towers to use the chairs on this beach. there really isn't any reason, as a cruise guest, that you'd make your way over to this beach

A report would be great. thanks!
