We are going to be visiting Nashville on 3/22 to see Eric Clapton at the Bridgestone Arena. Checking hotel rates and downtown while not expensive is a lot more than we could pay if we stay away from downtown. For those living there or at least knowledgeable about the arena area, how is parking? The "fees" added to the hotel include additional for parking which is what I am balking about...an additional $50 at a Ramada Inn. We are from Indianapolis so used to driving in bigger cities. Thanks for any help.

Check out parkitdowntown.com it should answer any parking questions you have. We usually stay at the embassy suites close to Briey Parkway and hardly ever have any issues with traffic or parking and this includes the week of CMA Fest. If you have anymore questions I will be glad to help.

I agree with the pp about staying out of downtown. $50 for parking one night is ridiculous and you will be able to drive in and park for much cheaper, especially if you are willing to walk a few blocks.

When we visited last fall, we stayed at Double Tree Suites out by the airport. It was about 15 minutes to get to downtown. Parking most areas was $20 or less and that was with a Titans/Bears game going on. We just wanted to go to the Country Music Hall of Fame and found $10 parking. It was still close enough to walk further into downtown with 2 kids in tow to check out the shops afterwards.

I'm from Indy too and Nashville seemed a lot smaller than our downtown IMO.

Parking can be a challenge around there. I would stay away from downtown (we stay in the airport area) and go down a couple of hours early to scout out a parking place. You can walk to tons of bars and restaurants from Bridgestone, so it's a good idea to go ahead and get in the downtown area, then make your way over before the show.

$50 is a lot, but you will not find any free parking in Nashville downtown. If you stay out at the airport, you will still need to get to downtown early in the day and find a lot. It may end up costing you that much anyway. What else do you want to do on your visit? If you will be downtown for the whole day and night, the parking fee may be worth the convenience.

Thanks for all of the replies....we are going to check out the airport area and compare prices including allowing $20 for parking. We will be driving from Indy that afternoon (1/2 day of work). Regardless will plan on being downtown no later than 5:30 for the 7:00 concert.

Some of your non-downtown hotels offer a free shuttle to downtown. I know that Millenium Maxwell House and Radisson Airport both do. When we go DT, we either stay at a hotel that offers the shuttle and cab it back after we are finished, or pay for a cab both ways.

We park in the garage next to GAC on Commerce St. and 3rd Ave. and I don't recall the price but I am not one who likes to pay $20 to park so it must have been cheap. OH and the restaruant on the corner Demo's is a GREAT place to eat. Don't be alarmed if you see a crowd waiting to be seated the line moves quickly. The most I have ever had to wait is 20 minutes for a table.

*** just looked up the parking garage and the rate is $12.00 a day. also wanted to mention that the area is safe to walk in at night. We have made several visits to nashville and this is where we usually park. Have fun.

The parking garage is about a 15 minute walk to Bridgestone. By have the garage be on the outter edge of downtown makes it easier to get out of the city when an event is over.

The one I am referring to is the one on the far right side of the web page.

I always stay at the "Airport" hotels on Elm Hill Pike. The Residence Inn and the Marriott are very nice. I've also stayed at the Homewood Suites, but it has been a few years and I've heard bad reports since. There are several other chains on the road. Stayed at a couple of others, but can't recall the names.

Life long Nashvillian. Nashville is a lot like Indy. Parking can be had but space is always a premium. There is also a lot of construction going on with the new convention center. If it were me I'd stay in Brentwood (South of Nashville)
