Okay we're midway now, tracks start repeating. Besides this being a night race it will also be the first race with the NBC broadcasters. Don't know if you remember but Allen Bestwick has been replaced with Bill "the Whisper" Weber (yuck).

So.... this race last year was won by Jeff Gordon, in 2003 it was won by points leader Greg Biffle. The Feb races were won by Dale JR in 2004 and Jeff Gordon in 2005.

Qualifying will be Friday at 4:40PM ET, it will air on TNT. Picks must be in before qualifying starts. This is an IMPOUND race (ugh).

My picks:

1. #24 - Jeff Gordon (always #1 with me even during the rough spots)
2. #48 - Jimmie Johnson (does well here)
3. #20 - Tony Stewart (can he make it back to back)
4. #97 - Kurt Busch (stats don't show it but lately he's done well here)
5. #8 - Dale Jr (can't leave him off any list at Daytona)

Spare - #99 - Carl Edwards

Good luck folks!

BTW, did anyone watch the new & "improved" NASCAR Nation last night? If so what did you think? I enjoyed it but I didn't find anything wrong with the old Totally NASCAR and I really liked Krista Voda but she's no longer there.

Picks for the week:

2.) Kurt Busch
3.) Eliott Sadler
4.) Kyle Busch
5.) Ryan Newman

My thoughts on this race:
1) Glad they're back at Daytona, especially after last week's road course (YUCK!)
2) NOT glad to be back with NBC!

Anyway, my picks are:
#16 Biffle
#99 Edwards
#97 Busch
#48 Johnson
#20 Stewart

Spare- #5 Kyle Busch

Caught the show-threw it back after 5 minutes. We did not care for the format (in the least). Seems that they are trying to appeal to a certain audience, not us for sure.

Also upset that Alan will not be at the races.

My picks:

1. #15 (he has been doing so well lately)
2. #48
3. #99
4. #9
5. #20

Spare: #24
