Yeah I know it's Infineon Raceway but everyone still calls it Sonoma
Our first ROAD COURSE of the season and with our first road course comes the ringers, there will be quite a few road course specialist taking over the seats of some cars.
Boris Said will be driving but this is the debut of his new race team - partnered with Roush racing Boris, Mark Simo and Frankie Stoddard (forever known for the Stoddard manuever in our house) have formed "NO-FEAR RACING". They will run 4 races this year and hope to have a full time sponsor (So-Be) for next year. So Boris is not a ringer
The ringers are:
PJ Jones in the #4 instead of regular Wimmer.
Ron Fellows in the #32 instead of Kvapil.
Scott Pruett in the #40 instead of Stremme.
All 3 of those cars have to qualify on speed since the cars are not in the top 35 in points so in hopes of making the race the owners have called in the big guns.
Drivers who have to make it in on speed also include:
#02-Brandon Ash
#27-Tom Hubert
#34-Johnny Miller
#49-Chris Cook
#55-Michael Waltrip
#60-Boris Said
#61-Brian Simo
#72-David Gilliland
#78-Travis Kvapil
#95-Stanton Barrett
Qualifying is Friday at 7PM Eastern time - picks must be posted prior to the start of qualifying.
My picks:
1. #24 - Jeff Gordon (he said he expected them to make great strides come summer - today is first day of Summer - Go Gordon Go
)
2. #20 - Tony Stewart (this is where he started his five wins last year)
3. #5 - Kyle Busch (Boris said yesterday on XM that the kid is fast)
4. #60 - Boris Said (How can I not pick him - love Boris)
5. #11 - Denny Hamlin (I think he might have something for them)
Spare - #29 Kevin Harvick (need a good one here in case Boris fails to qualify- he won't but it might rain and then where would I be)
Good luck Folks!
