Please reassure me about Narcoossees as I have been reading several negative reports about it lately. I made ressies there for 7:10 when fireworks are scheduled at 8. I really want special experiences for my mother, as I am sure it will be her last trip, and I thought that the atmosphere would be great with the fireworks and the water. The food is secondary, but I still would hope it is good. It seems from the reviews I have read that the fillet and lobster are inconsistent(sometimes great and sometimes tough and or rubbery). So I think we will stick with the crab crusted fish(halibut or mahi mahi ?) +/or the scallops. Are these usually good, or is there something else recommended(no salmon or strong-tasting fish)? Or someplace else. I really don't think HDDR is her style. And we already have three character meals planned.

Thanks .

I think Narcoossee's is fine - I didn't find it to be so great, but our food was good.

I just wanted to say that you may have to go outside to watch the fireworks though. Most people do, and if you don't, even with a window table, your view may be blocked by people standing around the restaurant on the outside.

Dh and I went in March on our 10th anniversary. We truely enjoyed the whole meal. I had the lobster which was very good. The asparagus was cooked perfectly and the largest I've ever seen and was super yummy. DH got the surf and turf and he too really enjoyed his meal. The cheesecake was to die for!!! Our server was super friendly and very good. We had a decent seat for the fireworks as well. Because it was chilly and raining no one went outside to view them. It was a very special meal and we enjoyed it.

We are booked to go back to celebrate our 11th this march.

You will have a good time. Yes they do have there ups and downs but its never that bad. Have a glass of wine and sit outside if you can't see it from where you are sitting. Ate there a few times. Food was good.

We ate there last month and the food was excellent. We had the lobster, surf and turf and filet entrees. All were prepared perfectly. Service was very attentive.

We had a very clear view of the MK fireworks (Christmas party night so it was Christmas Wishes) and the Electrical Water Pageant. It was v-e-r-y cold that evening so no one went out on the deck to view the fireworks.

Overall the best dinner of our trip.

It's one of our few must places and go there every trip. The food and service have always been very good. You will have a great time.

We ate there in Nov and the appies and desserts were great but the entrees were just eh

We did have a table by the window and had gorgeous views of the Castle but once the fireworks started our server told us our view would be blocked by everyone standing outside our window

A few days later we ate at Citricos and the food was a million times better and we had a great view of the fireworks from our table. We sat in the back circle of the restaurant.

The atmosphere is very nice; the food is average. Since you want to be there for fireworks and atmosphere, I would think you will be happy.

We just did that in early Dec. 2010 - had 7:30pm reservation, watched the 8pm fireworks, and the lighted boat parade that passes Narcoosees about 9pm (don't forget that!). Overall, it was a very nice experience... and we enjoy the small orchestra in the Grand Flordian lobby too. Our 2nd time to Narcoossees, food was delicious both times.

But for overall experience and food.. I rate Flying Fish Cafe better than Narcoosees. The food was some of the best I've ever eaten... service outstanding... and the entertainers on the boardwalk right outside the restaurant were a blast. Also had excellent seafood at California Grill - I like the sushi and had a great Pacific Monchong (Hawaiian Fish) entree... and I'll need to mention Yak and Yeti in Animal Kingdom -- It's 1 credit on the dining plan and really very good... the malaysian seafood curry was outstanding (baby back ribs, thai chili wings, fried wontons dessert, and everything else - excellent!).

I'm not a lobster person (we prefer steamed crabs in MD), but the whole lobster at Narcoossees was very easy to chew, definitely NOT rubbery. I have read that lobster tails (any lobster tail) is going to be a little more tough than the rest of the lobster. This was true for my whole lobster but it was still not tough to chew or rubbery. I've heard that the lobster tail that comes with the surf and turf entree is lesser quality than the whole lobster -- DW had that in 2009 but nothing remarkable about it... I think you can sub scallops for the tail (that's what I would do).

All 4 restaurants are reviewed in my link below...

I am a regular at Narcossee's and never have had a bad meal, I always get the lobster and filet and I have never had either cooked poorly. The tuna tartar app is always good and the desserts are always great. I usually book a reservation around 8, because then they let you out on the deck to watch the fireworks at the MK.

We were there in December and it was tied for the best meal of our trip, with Le Cellier. In fact, both of those meals were up there with the favorite meals I have ever had.

We dined there the night before DisneyFamily123 on Dec 9th. We both had surf n turf for our entrees. Filet was good, lobster was so-so. It was good food with great appetizers and great desserts. The view and fireworks, and electric water pageant are worth the price of admission. It's definitely worth trying out, but if you are a foodie like my husband and I, you might be slightly disappointed. Don't sweat it, go and check it out, it's a very small intimate setting with a great view of the parks. Have a great trip!!
