What does everyone think about taking a 13 month and 4YR old here. Sometimes my oldest gets loud, it all depends on the day. Do people bring the little ones here?

To me Narcoossee's is one of the most romantic restaurants on property. Being a signature restaurant, I would not exactly be please if I was sitting next to a child that was not appreciative of the signature dining experience, KWIM?

You know your kids best, if you think that a 2hr dinner would be too much for them, then you may want to choose another location,

I definitely agree. I don't think you'd enjoy that too much either, I know I wouldn't. If you're looking around for a GF restaurant, the 1900 Park Fare is really good also. I couldn't say that it's better than Narcoossee's because it's my hands down favorite restaurant but it's very very good. Plus it's a buffet style place which is definitely a more kid friendly fare anyway.

We see kids that age all the time at places like Narcoossee's. However--well behaved kids are the most appreciated.
It is a long meal and if your oldest acts up to any extent, you may find yourself having to take him/her out of the restaurant before the meal is over.

We've always seen families dining with children when we've eaten there. This is by far my favorite Disney restaurant, so I have to recommend that you try it! Request a table by the window so that the view can help "occupy" your 4yo's curiosity. Also try and book around the time of Wishes so yall can watch it from your table. Just pack a bag of colors, toys, games, etc . . . and pull them out when you see a bit of restlessness settling in. I don't think you'll regret giving it a try. :goodvibes

We have ADR's there in June for a party of 9 including my DD4. I did not realize until reading this thread that this meal was long time wise. Can someone elaborate as to how much time I should be allocating to this meal? My DD is fairly well behaved but she is indeed only 4. I would never want to disrupte another familys evening b/c I wasn't fully prepared to enterain her. :sad2:

We eat at one signature restaurant with our kids every trip. We get dressed up for our "fancy" meal, and I think that helps with behavior. One of us would take them for a walk if they started to get loud. My kids enjoy this night because so far each restaurant has had a fancy kid dessert. I think Artist Point's puzzle and "painting" is their favorite so far! Our kids have yet to be the only ones there. I do schedule it for 6:00 so they aren't too tired. Have fun!

well it depends. last time we got appetizers, entrees, and desserts and were there at least two hours. its a slow, long meal, but we love it. very romantic. they take their time and do not rush you. of course if you jsut got entrees it would be much quicker i would imagine

I agree with some of the previous posters. We went there during our honeymoon last summer. It is a lovely restaurant - and becomes quite romantic later in the evening. It is not inexpensive either - although I absolutely think its worth every cent. I wouldn't recommend it for toddlers. In fact, we are returning to Disney next month - and although I love Narcoosees - we won't be headed there because we are bringining toddlers on this family trip.

The dinner will/should last at least 2 hours - unless you rush it. IMO too long for young children.

I haven't been there but we're thinking of trying it next time. We've taken our kids to flying fish twice. First time was when they were 3.5 and 5. We had them eat their meal during our appys and dessert with our dinner. I'm sure someone will flame me for this but I don't care :lmao: After they're done eating (usually an hour at FF) we let them watch a DVD at the table. :scared1: :lmao: We all know our limits and an hour of behavior that's interactive w/us and doesn't disturb anyone else its a big fun accomplishment.

We only do it as signature restaurants and only after they've eaten but it allows all of us to enjoy another hour at the restaurant.

The other thing we do is have them go to one of the babysitting clubhouse and they adore that. It's not cheap but you can have a lovely adult night and they can have a fun kid night.

We took our 3 year old twins there a few weeks ago. We had a later reservation, too, 7:45, which made me nervous. We did the whole deal (appetizers through desserts) with a slow waiter and a break for Wishes, but we didn't come close to a full 2 hours. We had small (and quiet) toys for the kids to play with and they did well. The only difficult part was that it took a while to be seated (they somehow lost our information after we checked in), but that was fairly quickly remedied.

We always try to be sensitive when we eat out and if our kids aren't behaving well, we leave. We "practiced" with them a lot before our trip and made our expectations clear.

We weren't the only kids around and the waitstaff was obviously used to smaller ones. It isn't the quietest restaurant, but the atmosphere was nice enough that the kids knew they needed to be on their best behavior.

One trick I have used for long dinners is to pack along my portable DVD player. My kids don't get to watch a whole lot of tv, so for occasions like this, after they have eaten they can settle in with earphones and watch while DH and I enjoy the rest of our meal. This may work really well with your 4 year old. You can at least bring it along in case he really starts to get restless.
