Okay, so I've seen many drooling over lobster tails at Narcoossees....

My question is, how are they serving them? Or is it just that it is Lobster?

I'm a 3rd generation Portland Mainer, my grandfather was a lobsterman... so, I've very fresh access every day...

so is it just that it's lobster and that is fab in itself or is it prepared in an unusual and amazing way?

I'm asking because If it is just lobster, I'd rather try something different.

(I am not judging the lobster choice... I just have ready access to maine lobster fresh off the boat, and would rather spend my money on something i do not have easy access to.)

Having vacationed in Maine, I couldn't imagine ordering lobster anywhere other than in Maine.

I'm going to say that I haven't had it. But there is no way if I was you, would I order it. Regardless of what people here said about it.

:thumbsup2

Well, it's where my mind goes whenever I see lobster on a menu....it isn't even a consideration.

So I am curious if it is that it's lobster, or its the holy grail of lobster preparation?

I'm not above trying lobster prepared in an amazing and different way...

but if it's just a lobster tail, id venture to different things on the menu.

The lobster is fresh, but is just normal run of the mill lobster. It's very expensive considering it's not wrapped in gold. Also having vacationed in Maine, I would order something else. There's no comparison in fresh Maine lobster. In fact, we live in the mid-south and order live lobsters from Maine for special occasions. So good.

having done some investigative work (Google pics)

it looked like lobster.

I may even change back to citrico....

My research led me to narcooses after comparing the two. can't remember what gave Narcoossees the edge.

We will be there at 5pm. so no wishes. oh...maybe it was to see castle lit up. can you see the castle?

To answer the questions you've asked twice it is just lobster. Whole steamed and butter poached tail. Not the "Holy Grail" of lobster

I really like Narcoosee's - the lobster bisque is very good (but I've had better in Maine and Cape Cod). I usually get the scallops, which are really fabulous. And of course the almond cheesecake for dessert. There's a really good wine selection and I enjoy the setting.

I have not had the lobster but someone I was dining with did get it and wasn't wowed. He said it was good - but not $70 good.

If you're on Dining Plan, it might be worth trying the lobster. If you're not, the entrees that are $20 less are much better options, IMHO.

Yes, I've heard about the scallops. Definitely willing to try those. I think I will stick with my usual not ordering lobster and try the other entrees. I truly enjoy finding really yummy dishes and was willing to break my rule based on the love the lobster was getting in case I was limiting my tastebuds with a viewpoint that didn't fit the situation.

Thanks all who took the time to chime in!
