Day 1

We just live in Georgia, so you would think it would be a really quick ride down to Disney World – NOT – at least it’s not with 2 small potty trained grandchildren who have to have the infamous potty breaks every hour on the hour. Ok – let me stop and explain, one of them really couldn’t be helped as our oldest DGD was diagnosed a couple of weeks ago with Mono and she’s been on antibiotics and drinking a lot - so we were just thankful we even got to make this trip. Dr said she could go – just no roller coasters to sling her around and she had to get lots of rest. Ok – we can do this!!
Our 3 yr old DGD has been in awe of seeing Cinderella for almost a year. Then 90 days before our scheduled trip my DH and I got up EARLY in the morning and got ressie’s for Breakfast with Cindy in the Castle. Every day since that day, Lauryn would watch Disney movies or the Disney Channel and see the castle and squeal – “ The castle – I’m gonna eat there!)
We left Friday night 11/19 and when it finally dawned on her that we were really on our way, she kept asking her mom “ are we going to Disney World ? “ and my DD would answer, “ Yes “ – then Lauryn would say “ right now ? “ she did this on and off the whole way to Valdosta.
We had reservations at the Sleep Inn in Valdosta for the night and made an early start of it the next morning. Now – finally on our way to Disney.

Day 2 – out of Gas and then finally there!!

We left Valdosta and headed for Orlando: again, should have been a quick 3 ½ hour trip, but with so many “potty” breaks, it ended up taking more like 5. And then I must explain why it really did take 5 hours… My DH was driving and we finally get to the Florida Turnpike – Kids are looking at the billboards and all of a sudden the car sputters. Anybody want to take a guess what happened? Drumroll please… yep, we ran out of gas. My DH was so embarrassed – he’s never run out of gas! We all gasp in disbelief as he pulls over to the emergency lane and the car rolls to a dead STOP. Our son-in-law gets out of the car and starts running. We are 1 mile from a “Service Center “ that would have gas. OK – me, the compulsive planner looks at the clock and starts calculating when he would be back with the gas and we could get on the road again. My best estimate was at least 45 minutes and probably close to an hour. It’s been about 10 minutes and we look up to see him coming up with a “Turnpike Angel “ – oh, I mean Turnpike Ranger. We really did say a Prayer of Thanks and soon were on our way. ( drove straight to the Service Center and filled up with gas. )

We drove by my niece’s house and picked up her stroller (in Orlando) and finally to our home for the next 4 nights – Allstar Movies. I was so excited – we were finally here. Check-in was a breeze and I had gotten exactly what we asked for on the reservations: Toy Story Building. Our rooms were 9862 and 9863 right outside Andy’s PlayRoom with the larger than life Buzz and Woody. The kids were thrilled: they loved it. We ate a quick lunch in the Food Court, bought 2 drink mugs and 5 minutes later, bathing suites on and we headed straight for the pool.

That evening we took the bus to the Magic Kingdom and then the Ferry to Wilderness Lodge where we had dinner at the Whispering Canyon Café. Our 3 yr old DGD loves ketchup and so needless to say she asked for it. Our waitress had laryngitis tho so she had my DSIL stand up and do the “ketchup” routine – He was great. He is a middle School football coach so he can yell with the best of them. All of a sudden, we had 6 ketchup bottles on our table. Our DGD thought was great. They were too shy to join in the pony races but enjoyed watching everyone else. The food was awesome; my DH and DSIL ate until they couldn’t move. Overall, a great choice for the 1st night’s meal.

Afterwards, we took the ferry back to MK and then monorail to the Polynesian to watch the fireworks. They started earlier than I had remembered from Steve Soares website but I think the hours of the park had changed since I last checked, so it was my fault. We did get to see them from the lobby windows, but couldn’t make it down to the beach in time. Because of this foul-up, it messed up my timing for wanting to watch the Water Parade. The Kids were somewhat cranky by this time, so we just agreed to go back to ASM for the night. It was late and we had reservations for Breakfast with Cinderella in the castle in the morning. We finally got back to the MK ( after I messed up again on directions. We walked from the Poly to the TTC thinking we could catch a bus from there to our resort – but No, we had to take the monorail back to the MK and then walk the long walk to the bus stop for the ASM). As we were all exhausted now and standing in the long bus line waiting for our time to board and my DD exclaims “ Look, mom, “ she’s pointing to the lake and it’s the Water Parade. It’s so pretty and so unexpected – a little pixie dust magic: I got to see the Water Parade… A good ending to our 1st day in DW.
:cool1:

I can see my DH running out of gas too.....never has happened but some day it could.......thanks so much for your beginning of your trip......I loved it

thanks for the report.
how would you say the crowd levels and wait times were from saturday through tuesday?

I love the Toy Story section. So glad you got it- the kids must have been thrilled.

Zurgerific,

The crowd was Very Heavy on Sunday in the MK, but I suspected that because it was an Early Entry Morning. That was the day we happened to get Cinderella reservations for in the Castle tho, so we lived with it. We were able to fast pass most of the rides we wanted, it was just later in the day before we could get to them. We didn't fast pass Peter Pan and we stood in line atleast 45 minutes. I honestly didn't think Sunday of the holiday week would be that bad, thought it would come later in the week. Tuesday, we spent at Epcot and it wasn't bad at all. We fast passed Mission Space and Test Track and the wait was not long at all. Test Track was the longest wait - but definitely worth it. Plenty of walk around room in the World Showcase. I love Epcot - it's my favorite park :)
