With prices and packages changing constantly, I thought it might be fun to gather a list of souvenirs, events or other items that are completely free at Disney World. If a lot of talented Diser's participate, this might be a useful tool for someone on a budget, new to Disney World or someone (like us) just needing to cool off their pocket book.

Whatever the case, there may be more than we think. I'll begin with some of our favorites;

1. Pictures with Characters
2. Popcorn Buckets
3. Ice Station Cool

What are some of yours? .....

Nightly entertainment on the Boardwalk (jugglers, magic acts)

This was a pleasant (and free) surprise for our 2 kids last trip!

We never did this, but the campfire and movie at Ft. Wilderness sound like they are fun.

The Electrical Water Pagaent on the lake, that you can watch from the Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge, Fort Wilderness, and Magic Kingdom.

Although on our last trip we were told that they don't play the cute music when it stops at Magic Kingdom. This was correct, as we watched it there with no music.

The animals on the grounds of Animal Kingdom Lodge. They have giraffes (and baby when we went in December), zebra, deer and other hooved animals, flamingoes and other birds. You can watch them from outdoor areas or from inside viewing areas.

Downtown Disney sometimes has wonderful street performers. In December at the Marketplace we saw a very talented and funny juggler. He was young but he had a great act! :rotfl: There was also a guy outside the Rainforest Cafe with various beautiful parrots.

The Wilderness Lodge has an erupting geyser (I think it was every half hour). The lobby here has a Hidden Mickey quest you can do.

Fort Wilderness has a Nature Swamp Trail with a boardwalk where you can see some wildlife, but unfortunately it is impassable at the moment due to the hurricanes. Hopefully Disney will one day fix it up that way it used to be.

On our last trip we saw an armadillo wandering around at Fort Wilderness. Sometimes you can see deer, and of course lots of birds. You can also check out the horses and ponies there.

Ride the resort monorail around the whole loop. Also ride the monorail that goes between Magic Kingdom and Epcot and back again.

Also ride these Disney boats:

Ferryboat from the TTC to Magic Kingdom

Various boats from Polynesian, Contemporary, Grand Floridian, Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness to Magic Kingdom.

Boat between Epcot and MGM, which stops at hotels in between.

Boats from Port Orleans, Key West and Saratoga Springs hotels to Downtown Disney.

I have a goofy friend (no pun intended) at work and I told him I would bring him something back. I brought him a complete 6 person set of tableware from ASMo food court! :rotfl: Plates, forks, spoons, knives and I think I got cups too. I made him take a picture of his family using them at home.

I also bring home pennies from everywhere I go for another coworker. It's a running joke. He's never really said anything about it but it makes me laugh inside when I act sincere and give them to him. He pretends they are the greatest souveniers. Call me strange.

I'm still wondering about these Popcorn Buckets!
How are they free?

Well our favorite free thing to do was the VMK tour, but they just recently stopped offering that. We had the best time. I believe the quest/trivia booklets are still available. You can also play VMK at a couple of kiosks in the MK.

Scoops pin talk in the exposition hall.

The hidden mickey hunt at AKL. Also at AKL they offer free kids activities and adult tours for guests staying there. I loved the culinary tour.

Pin trading. Ok so this one isn't free exactly since you need to buy the pins to start but since we have quite a few traders now we can freshen up our collection and look for that must have new pin instead of buying it.

No one has mentioned the stickers CM are always handing out to kids. We have quite a collection of these now as well.

Innoventions in Epcot has a neat game that you play and at the end you get to make a plastic robot to take home.

The emails and videos you can send at Epcot.

Riding in the front of the monorail through the Epcot loop.

Seeing all the live acts in Epcot. It's great when you just happen upon them.

The candy lady in Japan. We have missed her the last two trips and look forward to seeing her again this summer.

Ice station cool.

I don't know if they still do this but we visited the magic shop in DTD and they will demonstrate their magic tricks every so often. I still miss the magic shop in the MK though.

The popcorn buckets aren't really free since they cost more than a regular paper tub of popcorn, but they do make a cheap souvineer.

Mine is not technically free either since you have to buy the kids meal, but at some CS restaurants the black dish that the kids meal come in is in the shape of Mickey and we always was it out and take it home.

I love my luggage tags from WDT

I guess I will miss them now with DVC .I might have to book a couple of days at POP every once in a while to get my new ones.

without a doubt it is the wonderful smiles and professionalism of the CM'S.

can't get that anywhere else!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

KUDOS TO ALL OF THEM :cheer2:

Technically nothing in the parks are free since you are paying for it some how. However, in the spirit of the list

1. the special pins and tee shirts you get at the end of many of the tours
2. The WDW planning video is good for a quick Disney fix and to get you excited about your already booked trip.
3. The candy lady at Japan at EPCOT
4. Who hasnt taken home any Mickey soap or shampoo from your resort room!

Oh, me too! I love the Mickey shaped black kid's meal dish! We brought a couple home last trip.

Don't forget Birthday Buttons! They are free and lots of fun to wear on your birthday!

I also love the round Mickey head coasters they leave in your room at the resorts.

How are they free?[/QUOTE]

The popcorrn buckets aren't technically free (since you pay a little extra for the large size) but they are given to you throughtout the parks in a few styles when you order from one of the popcorn vendors.

Mr. Potato Head Pictures

My kids loved creating their own MPH designs on the computer stations at the toy shop at DTD. It was really neat because you could add the WDW props to him and then print them out for FREE!!!! :) :) A great thing to add to our scrapbook.

Fastpass!
The Park guide maps
The campfire and movie at Ft. Wilderness. Never done this either but want to.
Riding the monorail and exploring the deluxe resorts.

My favorite freebie is the yummy popcorn smell when you first walk into the Magic Kingdom, coupled with the awesome music....
