I called the IOA reservation line using the phone number on the Universal website to try to get a Saturday Night reservation for Mythos....but the dude said that Mythos isn't open for dinner and wouldn't take a reservation.

I don't believe that is the case?

This is very possible as Mythos has a habit of closing early, usually around 3pm. My suggestion is to stop by IOA's guest services when you enter the park and make your Mythos reservations then. You might have to settle for eating lunch, instead of dinner, at Mythos.

Yes that would be the case. Mythos is usually opened for lunch only

When the parks close early, so does Mythos. We're usually there in July when the parks are open late and have been lucky enough to have lunch AND dinner at Mythos!

It is a table service restaurant with wonderful food.
The theming in the restaurant is wonderful also.
The food is not your run of the mill theme park food. They are quite inventive in their creations, but still have things like burgers and chicken fingers too.
I love their seafood creations and the warm gooey chocolate banana cake for dessert!!

i was there Saturday and they were open till 6:00 pm. They have been pushing for longer hours of operation since Daniel took over as manager. They had been open till 7:00 pm till 3/29.

Always check with guest services or swing by and ask the hostess what the hours are for that day. :cool2:

That's true but on Saturday the park was open until 10:00 PM. Right now the park is open until 8:00. When the park closes at 6, 7, or 8 then Mythos isn't open for dinner just lunch. I wish they were open until park closing each night. :sad1:

If you have it handy, that is.

We're planning a trip to US/IOA (our last visit there was in '95! I imagine much has changed since that time) and after slobbering over some of the pictures from Mythos, we're really looking forward to trying it out for lunch one day. I'm pretty sure we need a reservation but don't really know which way to turn to make one. With Disney, I've got the system down pat. Universal not so much.

So any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, any other restaurants there that shouldn't be missed?

ETA: Nevermind. I just got the number from the website and called them. I had to leave a message for them to call me back. Hopefully I'll be able to snag a time for lunch on one of our days. The place looks amazing. :woohoo:

Got this from Universal's website: (407)224-4012 for Mythos. As for making reservations for Mythos, you can usually stop by IOA's guests services in the morning, and make your reservation at that time.

As for other restaurants, try Finnegan's at US.

Thanks so much! I haven't gotten a call back from them yet so thanks for the tip about making reservations once we get there. I'll have to do that if I'm not able to get in touch with them before we leave. Do they fill up pretty quickly? Not that I think it's the new Cinderella's Castle and I need to make a reservation 180 days out for it (or do I? ;) ), but from what I've read it seems to be pretty popular.

Off to do a search on Finnegan's....

I think that most of the people eating at Mythos are walk-ups, so making a reservation in the morning shouldn't be a problem.

Just spent 1 week over Easter at US.
Parks were open till 10pm.
Mythos closed at 6pm & Confisco's 6.30, sometimes 7pm.

Why don't they stay open till half hour before closing?Have never ate there, but everybody on this forum that has say it's the best.Going in 3 weeks and it's definatly on my too get there and eat list.:woohoo:

We were there in February (President's Week, so not totally slow) and had lunch at Mythos twice. On both occasions, I made priority seatings (they don't call them that, but that's what they are - they aren't really reservations from what I have read) on the mornings that we ate there. Once was when we were in IOA and the other was when we were in US.

Both IOA and US have a place for making dining reservations, and you can reserve restaurants in both parks. Perhaps you can also do it at Guest Services as was suggested by one poster, but I never tried that. In IOA, the dining kiosk is located (or was when we were there) right before you hit the bridge that goes from the Port of Entry area into the Superhero area. It's under the Hulk. In US, it's right outside the "On Location" pin trading shop ("A" on the map).

We ended up stopping by Mythos when we got to the park and we put our name on the List for lunch!
