Early this morning I got a DCL conformation email for a payment..but I hadn't paid anything..I checked with the other cabins in our party(2 others) and they also got the email for their accounts also but nobody had made a payment..they all were about $17..we are paying straight to DCL no TA..wonder where it came from? and I would gladly take more! Lol.

We got one a while back. I think it was due to changes in Port taxes perhaps? I know for us we had an itinerary change so I'm assuming that's where the credit is coming from. Not positive, though.

I've been refunded port fees (usually closer to cruising) but usually I get an email to that effect. You might call DCL just to verify/check in.

I called costco last week to pay the remaining balance on our May 2018 cruise. One cabin had $311 remaining. The other had $489 remaining.

When I called to make the payment, only one cabin still had a balance remaining. The girl could not figure out how the $311 was paid. She has the invoice from dcl saying the cabin is paid in full. She talked to her supervisor and said they can’t take my money because Disney cruise line considers it paid in full.

Not sure how this could happen and hope it doesn’t mess anything up down the road :(

Ok thanks...It's my first DCL cruise this May, didn't know that the port tax could change once you had the total cruise price.

You can also look at your original cruise contract and compare it with the one that they just sent you to see where the difference in cost comes in. Most likely, it is port fees and taxes that may have been adjusted.

Since port fees & taxes change frequently, the cruise lines make a "best guess" as to what they are going to be for a cruise months in the future. Most of the time, they guesstimate high. Then, as the cruise date approaches, give a credit back if the costs wind up being lower. If fees/taxes go up, the cruise line generally eats that.

Sounds like the one cabin that was paid in full (311.00) was actually the agents commission that was all that was left over after payments were made into the account over time.

Port fees and charges are refunded if they fall short of what they were estimated to be at time the itinerary was set. More spending money! :)

When should we see the refund by? Our cruise is $458 less on taxes and fees now than what we paid.

They send the money back to the original form of payment and it is adjusted by people per cabin for port fees changed.
You would get an email from DCL that looks like a confirmation email of your booking. In the body of the email will have price per person of an updated amount.
For example, Guest 1 charges are 550.00 Guest 2 charges are 550.00 Guest 3 charges are 450.00 and Guest 4 charges are 450.00. (and yes, totally unrealistic amounts) lol
Originally, Guest 1 was charged 575.00 Guest 2 was charged 575.00 Guest 3 was charged 475.00 and Guest 4 was charged 475.00.

You would want to refer to your original booking confirmation email to see original prices and then compare them to the updated prices.

If you are expecting a refund, check your original form of payment to see if it has been processed.
