Help....I'm freezing here in snowy, cold Canada & dreaming of a small excursion elsewhere...Myrtle Beach for March Break.

I'm thinking of staying at Dunes Village Resort only because it was the first hotel that popped up during my search & it looks nice. But, I know nothing of Myrtle Beach so does anyone have ANY info, good, bad or other, of places to go, things to see, temperature expectations, restaurants, shows, etc, etc, etc! I'm thinking of staying a week...but with the driving there & back, it would work out to six days. What is there to do for six days?

My guys are 11 & 12.

Thanks!!

http://www.condolux.net is a great website if you are thinking about renting a condo for the week. We stay in North Myrtle Beach and love it there.

We ususally go in June and there is a ton of things to do there besides the ocean and pools. Barefoot Landings and Broadway on the Beach are two big outdoor complexes with tons of little shops and entertainment. There is a Ripley's Aquarium, an Alligator and reptile attraction, and Nascar Speedpark for go-karts. Movie theaters, mini-golf, dinner shows, golf courses and lots of shopping, pier fishing. Lots of Calabash seafood buffets.

Hope you have a great trip. :)

Hey, thanks!! That's great to hear! Is there a difference between the North & South area of Myrtle Beach? What is better in terms of activities to do?

North Myrtle Beach, historically, was more family and less touristy but I think that may have changed. Still, I would probably look to North Myrtle Beach.

Just a warning though--we've gone over spring break and while certainly warmer there than in Virginia, it's not really beach weather yet and it can be kind of chilly.

we LOVE Dunes Village Resort. The rooms are sooo nice. The ones we have stayed in have a washer and dryer in the room, VERY convenient. We wont stay anywhere else anymore.

I'm a South Carolinian. March will be too cool to enjoy the beach if that is what you are after. Now if you are just going to shop and eat out, you'd be fine.
