Politely complained to her that "it's not your fault, but it would be really nice if members could at least purchase the same dining plans the general public can." For what it's worth, she claimed "DVC is considering making changes that would allow you to do that."![]()

I totally agree with this. Why should Disney offer us any kind of food package? We aren't paying rack rate each stay, and we have full kitchens for a reason. I just don't get it. If you want the dining plan, pay full price for the accommodations like the others who are taking advantage of it. I also think the dining options are a bit restrictive. We never eat at counter service places and never eat breakfast in the parks, and $35 wouldn't begin to cover a meal at the places we like to dine.Chuck S said:We are not being penalized. AP room rates are also not eligible for MYW dining. The cost of the full price room package offsets the cost to Disney of the dining plan. DVCers and AP room have never been able to book a package dining plan, except for the Food'N'Fun card, that was available to all onsite guests.
BTW, AP rates book through CRO/WDW travel just like the packages....it is NOT a computer glitch...that is why it is called a "package".
Interesting, I just estimated my recent trip for 9 nights in a OKW studio...dues, initial cost of OKW/50 years, what we spent on food, and what 2 AP renewals cost and it came in just under $2,000 total. (2 adults)
OKW studio @ 259 per night = 2331, MYW = $630, 7 day hoppers $498.42 = $3459.42 PLUS ROOM TAX

We used the plan in February, it was perfect for our family and I'd like to have the opportunity to use it again in connection with my DVC membership. I don't want it for "free", I just want to be able to purchase it. Call it a food package if you must, but I'd be happy to buy it as an add-on to a mandatory ticket package. I consider the AP discount a perc, wherein it saves you money on your tickets and, in turn, offers an opportunity to buy the dining card. IMHO not much different in letting DVC'ers the opportunity to purchase the MYW dining.
Remember, DVC is not "one size fits all". What is right for you is not necessarily what everyone else wants. Obviously, there is some level of demand for the MYW dining option or it wouldn't be under serious consideration by DVC.
