That would be a great solution. I really wish they had rolled this whole thing out in a more staged way:

1) Magic Bands for resort guest first, acting just like KttW cards.
2) FastPass+ for IN PARK USE ONLY (i.e. switching the current FastPass system to allow all guests with regular cards or bands to use multiple in-park terminals, and later smartphones, on the day in exactly the same way regular FastPasses work but with wider ways to access it)
3) Once all that is working fine, start to bring in pre-booking for FP+ at a 30 day window (which personally I think is more than enough!)

Better still IMHO, skip step 3 altogether and just make a better on-the-day booking system, but hey. :(

Andre

I had the same thought wondering why Disney did not implement the MB functions in stages rather than go whole hog and making the potential for issues greater.

AS seems now do to the various "glitches" many of us are Expierenceing the MB will serve as nothing more than glorified KTTW cards that we can "bling out"

Two questions:

1) Did I read somewhere that purple was available? I have until the end of the month to finalize my bands and purple isn't showing.

2) How far in advance of your trip is the BOG lunch option showing up? I have 44 days until my trip and I don't see it.

Thanks!:goodvibes

No purple
No BOG reservation link working for oct right now

The FP+ kiosks are in every park so those without a smartphone (:scared1:) can still access the FP+.

I read that on here that the MB kiosks in MK are located in Town Square and by Philharmagic. Where can I find them in EPCOT, HS, and AK?

Purple was mentioned by a poster who was shown a list of roll out dates by a CM. It also said something about purple and that got a lot of us (me included) excited. OP never mentioned when purple could be available, or how it was shown -- I wonder if it was a picture and had poor ink quality and had actually just been the gray band he/she saw, or was an old picture where purple had seemed like it would be a choice, or if it specifically said in words purple would be coming.
Maybe if OP is out there you could clarify? :)

Hello gang,
I was directed here as you guys are the experts on this topic. I have a few questions, thx for your help.

1. Cbr goes on-line Oct 7th , I am checking in on the 1st and will be there thru the 9th. Any chance I will be part of this or am I out of luck due to my early check in date?

2. How did you receive word that you have been chosen to use this new service?

Thank you for your help!!:thumbsup2

Right. :thumbsup2 I was holding a FP+ for Peter Pan for 4:10 and pulled one out of the FP- machine for 4:15. We didn't need to ride it twice the same day, so I went to the FP+ kiosk and switched the PP one for a different experience and time. I could have used both the FP+ and FP- for the same experience in the same hour if I wanted to. Which we did actually, at Space Mountain.

Do you have to cancel your existing FP+ to see availability? Or can you look at what is available and then decide if you want to cancel a FP+?

I am staying at AKL 12/7 thru 12/13. 81 days out. When will I know if we get to use fastpass+ or magic bands?

I found out ONLY because I read these boards! I am NOT excited at all; getting them and FP+ only to figure out system because we have a family reunion in April and this will be the test case!

So you where able to change a fp time after the time had passed? YES

Did you have to change the times of all your fp's? NO, the kiosk screen works just like the one on your computer. You can individually select.

(One more question)Was there still availability for popular attractions the day of? Thanks
YES Plenty of times and choices available

I read on here that there are FP+ kiosks in the parks where changes can be made to FP+'s already loaded onto MB's. Can anyone tell me where these kiosks are located in each park? TIA

This is not a complete list...
HS - Between ToT and RR
MK - Inside Info at Town Square, Beside Philharmagic in Fantasyland
That's all I have for now. Didn't need to find them in Epcot or AK

I was wondering if someone who has gone to the parks in the last couple days and has MagicBands tried to pull regular FP's. I have seen reports that since the end of last week, the machines are no longer accepting KTTW cards if they were not used to enter the park and you used the MagicBand to enter the park, basically ending the "double dipping"..
:thumbsup2We have been everyday at every park this week, Truly a fastpassapallooza! In fact there are so many short return times, that we could have survuved quite well without FP+.

I wonder if with all the new resorts added coming up if they are switching to another version of FP+ where you can prebook 3 and then get more FP+ during the actual day as you use them up, and no longer let you pull from the old FP machines.
Hmmmm, maybe. We don't have hoppers this trip, but we are going to Epcot this morning and MNSSHP tonight, I am going to try making FP+ at a kiosk inside MK after 4pm and see if I can book 3 more FP+ and will report tomorrow. It isn't quite the same thing as a hopper and I know there have been reports of people booking extra FP+ online when they linked their MNSSHP tix, but I can't seem to get that done.

OP here, for now purple is a rumour from a CM who seemed to be in the know about when each resort was going live with MB. He did have a very formal looking rollout list. As with all rumours, we shall believe it when we see hard evidence.

Does anyone know how I can just get 1 FP+ for a day? When I went in and only selected one, it automatically assigned me 2 extras. We have one park day where we're doing a VIP tour and I wanted a FP+ between the end of the tour and our ADR (which I got). I was automatically assigned 2 more for after our ADR, which we won't use (early to bed family). However, I only see an option to cancel them all, not just 2. Seems like a waste.....

So, we traveled in August and activated annual passes. We were not part of Magic Band testing in August nor were our tickets ever linked to our KTTW cards. We are returning in October and have been selected to test Magic Bands.

When I enter MDE, I see 4 tickets associated with my name. After looking at the little icons, one looks like a KTTW card, the other three are green and look like annual passes. None of the #s associated with the tickets assigned to me correspond to my actual annual pass. Three of them have numbers I have never seen before and one ticket # is ours but it is actually my son's linked to my name.

After hours on the phone, we seem to be moving towards correcting this and other problems. It seems the three random cards/ tickets associated with my name were the two KTTW cards we had in August plus the replacement KTTW card I got when I misplaced one. WTH?!?! Why would old KTTW card that were never associated with a ticket be added to MDE/linked to my Magic Bands long after the travel has passed?

Next issue, we customized, ordered & received our Magic Bands about a week ago. A few days ago, we were having issues with husband linked to our DVC room reservation. Instead of him being recognized as an existing MDE user ( with his icon, band, etc, he was showing up as that grey mickey head which basically means system didn't recognize him. To try to fix, they removed and added him a number of times and removed and added me back on. This must have triggered a Magic Band " hyperdrive" because yesterday when I logged in, it said we had 9 new MBs ready to customize and/ship. They were all bands for me & my husband who already ad bands. Some say they've already shipped. No one can figure this one out. I have to wait to see if I receive more bands, if the additional bands all have same #s or different #s. if different #s, the next few hours on the phone will be to figure out which band our Fastpasses are on.

All I can say is "ugh" and I hope this all works when we get there. Oh, that and, I think Disney should be paying ME for this trip!;)

When I was there this past weekend, the CM at Guest Relations told me that from now on, since my renewed PAP is linked on MDE, anytime I am staying, my PAP will be automatically active on my KTTW card... That is why KTTW cards are going to be showing up on the 'MagicBands and Cards' section... It's a bit of a pain...

I agree, there is enough is enough advanced planning needed for a visit to Disney. Must they add more to plan?

In their infinite wisdom, Disney has decided that you don't know what you are doing, and that you must be mistaken if you want only one FP slot.

Lovely, huh?

I'm just floored that this has cost well north of $1 Billion to implement... I would have appreciated $1 Billion worth of new attractions in places that desperately need help, like DHS, EPCOT Center and Animal Kingdom, maybe a Tomorrowland re-do...

Glad to see im not the only one a little perturbed by the new MB - and FP+-
I am highly annoyed they have implemented these new systems. I'd rather get 3 FP for test track instead of 1 for 3 separate attractions! I HOPE with their one park rule, revenue drops because of less and less park-hopper passes ( and we have Disney stock.) What a ridiculous WASTE of $$$. I HATE tan lines on my arms as well and now I have to figure out where to put new MB! It's still going in my small, flat waist pack or pocket but now it'll just be bigger, bulky and annoying. I'll still need my ID for Tables in Wonderland so the MB isn't allowing me to do anything the room only card/ PAP didn't.

You aren't required to get a band. You can opt for a plain KTTW card instead.

Thanks for the update! I laugh at myself the greedier I get with all this. First I just wanted the bands. Now I want purple! Wonder what will be next? ;)

They aren't selling POTC MagicBands, but rather covers that can go on the colored bands (called...wait for it..."CoverBands")...plus all sorts of other bling...
