I could see in the future Fastpasses becoming a "freebe" when you book a room pkg. w/ tickets thru Disney thereby giving guests a reason to buy their park tickets directly from Disney rather than from a third party like UT.

I see it as an benefit from staying on site nite then that. Disney wants you on their property as much as possible..

I will probably open a can of worms here, but here it is :

Disney has always given Fastpasses for free when Universal sells their express and unlimited passes.

It would be an unpopular move if Disney started to sell FP+ (or part of it, like an additional FP+ slot for a fee)

But what do we see here ?

We see guests, who are eager to test the system, and who "bend" the testing rules by booking one night at a participating resort, just to get the MagicBand and be part of the FP+.
I'm not judging or arguing about those who pay for an extra night at a resort they won't check in into, it's not my point. My point is to say that guests have sent a message to disney, and this message is that some of them are willing to pay for FP+, and they do pay for FP+ right here, right now.
This message is flawed, because of the ability for double dipping, and of course for the hype of getting a MB (it's so frustrating to go to WDW and not being able to get something other guests get)

But, nevertheless, the message stands, and it says that charging a fee for FP+ would be absolutely possible, and if done in the right way, it could even be popular .... go figure .... because right now, some guests are actually paying $100+ to be able to use FP+ ... for a family of 3 the cost of one night at POP to get access to the test is about the same price as a universal express for the family

so I guess anything is possible, but guests have definitely shown disney that "paying" (indirectly) as much as universal was ok for some guests

(once again, just stating facts, not judging or pointing a finger)

People hated the very concept until they found out they were getting something extra not something less. Nearly every person who has posted thinking that they only get the 3 FP+ is not pleased and want to opt out. After learning they are getting a bonus by having the bands then all of a sudden it is ok with them.

So the only thing people are really willing to pay for is extra access to FP+ not just plain FP access. So disney could drop this whole plan to get rid of FP and just move to an onsite only rollout of FP+ for slight upcharge and that is what I believe people would be willing to pay for.

But that's not what the plan is, although I'm pretty sure this would be an excellent money maker for Disney. Maybe the bean counters should stop and take notice.

Just to say, if you have your regular tickets & your MNSSHP tickets both linked on your account this shouldn't make a difference. I however couldn't get my MVMCP tickets linked to my account as they were already printed and when I tried this I ended up only being able to make FP+ for another 9 days even though I had a 10 day ticket so make sure you don't want to use them elsewhere. As long as you are happy with giving up a day off your other ticket that is OK.

Must be a glitch with mine- I do not have MNSSHP tics linked and I only have 6 day tickets yet it let me reserve FP for seven days hmmm maybe I shouldn't do it just to be safe.

I've just been on the phone to tech support and a lovely lady will be sorting all my MDE problems out and emailing when she is done.

What looks to have happened is that DH is not linked to the reservation, this is why he is not eligible for FP+ and does not have his own MB.
Also I am down twice, my main profile is not eligible for FP+ but the 2nd is, this is what I've used to book me and DD10 with (on the rides where DD2 is too young to ride and we can baby switch) but she informed me that the FP+ would not have worked for me as the 2nd profile was not linked to the MB!! Oh my.

And I was not able to link any of my Dining reservations.

So she is going to unlink the reservation, add DH and delete my 2nd profile, then I can go and add/amend my FP+ to some as a family and link all my Dining reservations.
So glad I called as it sound like I would not have had a any FP+, only DD10 and that would have been a total nightmare.

I will update later on the outcome.

People are actually paying for an additional room just to get MBs and FP+?! :rotfl:
Seems very desperate and a waste of $$ to me.

Some did it just to get EMH...

Can I ask if FP+ is available during EMH?
I have been unable to find any, I've made my selections on days where we will be in the parks from 8am and they dont start until 9am, i hope to have already done the rides we have as FP+ in that early hour and then change them as the day goes, otherwise the FP+ was not needed. I suppose I could have and extra hour in bed knowing I have the rides I want reserved! but we like to hit parks early and go back to the pool.
Not sure I'm utilising this FP+ very good!

I don't believe FP+ will be made available during EMH hours.

In the mornings, it was rarely needed during that first hour. In some cases, the first return times didn't start until regular park open anyways.

In the evenings, they rarely used regular FP as it was.

They can keep it simple and not have to figure out which guests have reservations, etc. to see if they are eligible to select the FP+ times during EMH, by not having slots available during EMH. :)

I disagree. I think an extra FP+ for a price would be wildly popular. I would absolutely pay extra for one.

We do not have the luxury of picking our vacation time and if we can be spared wasting our time waiting in line or getting to the gate an hour before opening it would be huge for us. We haven't seen a parade or Illuminations for YEARS because investing the 1 1/2 is not worth it to us, so we choose not to.

If you pay the premium to fly at peak times, book a room at peak times, pay the extra dining for being there during a holiday ect. then divide it by the time you are actually in the park, well then it would probably be your last vacation at WDW because the shock of $$/hr. :faint: Time is money. An extra FP at during peak season would be very valuable and I would happily pay for it.

We used to be able to go the first full week of December and never used a FP for anything because everything was a walk on in the morning. It was value season and we loved it.

I have a reservation at CSR in October. I *really* want to be able to use the FP+ system during my trip. I'm debating whether I should book a split stay with my first night at Pop & the rest at CSR. Can you continue to use the FP+ system if you switch from a participating resort to a non-participating resort? Has anyone actually tried it? I know that split stays are common, so there must be some data out there. (I tried a Google search, but didn't find anything definitive.)

Thank you,
Shelli

Okay-I am crazy too. We are Los at WL and were bummed about not being able to try MB, we have a room at POP for the first night- which gave us the ability to customize and FP+. from a customer service stand point, i think they will continue to let them work, otherwise there may be a t of people who had split stays that will lose their FP+ that the website let them book. Hopefully, it will work for our whole trip but if it doesn't I know we will still have a great trip!

When is your trip?

We leave on the 20th - first stay overnight 9/21-9/22. Go disney cruise then come back.

Next ressie is 9/26-10/4. I was guessing when TOT run was. Guess wrong and had to make addtl ressie for 10/4-10/6.

My last bands shipped yesterday. Was not able to make fantasmic ressies for 10/1 yet so will keep trying. Band 3 closed yesterday so should get it by the weekend. Yeah!

I searched for the answer but I couldn't find it.

What is the time frame for a roll out to other resorts and tickets?

I would definitely pay extra to have access to the FP+ system! I am not a morning person, so it would be really nice to be able to get fastpasses for popular rides without having to arrive before rope drop. I also like the fact that you can get fastpasses for Fantasmic, Illuminations, & the parades.

As I posted earlier, I'm trying to figure out how I can get access to FP+ during my October trip. I don't want to violate any rules, but I'm willing to do a split stay if that will work. Does anyone know if it will?

Just my 2 cents,
Shelli

Magic Bands were processed and shipped yesterday and they were delivered to my door this morning:cool1::cool1::cool1:

A split stay in a testing resort will do it.
I have a spit stay in oct using FP + first part in testing resort.

this may or may not work, I just got back from a split stay first night Pop the next 3 nights AoA, last night Poly, eventually AoA managed to get the bands mostly hooked up , but we did lose some of the FP +, but room key, dining charging etc worked on all but 1 band, not when we moved to Poly, only 2 out of 5 worked, and they weren't willing to fuss with it as they were not scheduled to become a testing resort till the next day, with any luck the longer the testing goes the easier it will be to do split stays and keep an active band, but it doesnt always work

I find it interesting that AoA was willing to help you guys but Poly wasn't. I keep hearing issues like this out of the Poly and after our own experience there it seems like the staff there doesn't care about the Disney magic and just isn't worth the money any more.

There are no public timetables, and not even any rumors at this point, beyond the testing through the end of October.
