When trading in our APs for the cards in May, the CM told us the old FP system WILL be phased out as FP+ comes on board. She said it will be a very short period of overlap and she thinks it would be complete by September.

Forgive me, but I have to point out that a front-line CM would have no inside knowledge of any of this.

If that kind of info had been presented to CM's at those levels, we would have had headlines trumpeting the news on at least a dozen fan sites.

(We have many front-line CM's on this board as regular posters.)

Not trying to criticize YOU, as you were just repeating what you were told.
I'm just saying that the person who told you would not know these things as facts.

I get what you are saying, no worries. You're not shooting the messenger!
But the CM did tell us this was a common question they were getting from AP holders since the terms and conditions of using MDE state that basically you can only use FP or FP+ when both are running. I know she is just a front-line CM but it actually makes sense to me that they phase out the old FP. With this particular group they are targeting, the AP holders, it doesn't make sense for us as loyal customers to be penalized and only be able to use three FPs per day by default with the newly issued annual passes, only to have everyone else have free use of the old system.
I admit, I haven't been following the entire MDE developments closely (nor have read this entire thread) since it seems to change every three minutes, so I could be missing some info here.

Just wanted to post that I was able to get into Ap part of website and see info without having to put info in 6 times. I had 2 green "cards" and a kttw card listed for me. I'm guessing 1 KTTW card was from my may 2013 trip which tix was used to upgrade to AP, the first green " card" i'm guessing was ticket that was printed in between or my old ap that expired. the other green " card matches numbers of my new ap.

Dh had same kinda stuff going on except only 1 green " card" which I'm thinking is his ap number and a kttw card that I'm assuming was his may 2013 pkg tix.

Travel friend has same stuff as me and far as I know he has never been on Disney website so Disney had to get info thru other means.

At time we did upgrade/renewal we were asked for Email address and phone number so it's possible Disney linked up some of info that way.

I have a resort only reservation currently for November. When I look at the MyDisneyExperience App on IPhone, it now shows a tab for the Magicband for each of my family members (but says they dont' have one), but in the meantime I can find no such tab for myself. Any ideas where it would be hidden?
I am a bit concerned that despite Disney saying resort people will be able to reserve FP+ 60 days out, it will only apply to people who already have ticket media. I originally intended to buy tickets at SoG once I arrived. But on the bright side I can enjoy WDW with no FP at all so while I will hope for good answers, I wont lose sleep over it.

So far they are saying that everyone...not just resort people... Will be able to book 60 days out. As of right now disney resort people do not have any special perks with FP+ that isn't offered to non resort guests as well. That being said there are a TON of unanswered questions regarding FP+ and I hope it does not roll out by November!!!

Actually, what Disney has so far stated is that Magic Your Way ticket holders and Annual Passholders will be able to book 60 days out...other classes of tickets might have different limits. So jce2's concern is a valid one, as it appears that you will need a ticket associated with your profile to do the pre-booking. It is possible that they might offer "ticketless" pre-booking for resort stays, but I haven't seen anything specific about that, or whether SoG would be included in any resort-specific privileges, etc.

It is my understanding that the purpose of the website and FP+ is to lock you into Disney parks. Requiring a ticket purchase to book FP+ would seem to fit well with this.

What happens if you book a room-only reservation and plan to purchase your ticket through UT or even through Disney once you arrive at the resort? I just booked a room-only reservation because of the much lenient cancellation policy 5 days vs. 45 days and the ability to pay the balance at check-in. Am I understanding correctly that in order to get FastPasses, I'll need to have both a Disney resort reservation and a package that includes tickets? In the "testing" did they select only those with packages, or did they select some "room-only" folks?

Sorry if what i wrote was confusing!! what i was attempting to say was that Several dissers have emailed and subsequently spoken to "team leaders" that have called them regarding FP+ concerns. One of the few consistencies amongst the CMs has been that you are NOT required to be a Disney resort guest or have a MYW package... Just a Disney ticket.... To prebook FP+ rides 60 days out. Now how this works without a ticket purchase and a resort only I do not know. And I don't know how it works when you purchase from someone like UT unless you enter your ticket number into the system or such. But at least with the initial rollout Disney is currently saying it isn't giving FP+ to just Disney resort guests or packages purchases. It is for everyone w a ticket purchase to the parks.
Of course for those that save the purchase of tickets until the last minute due to finances to me this seems to be a huge issue!
FYI
The only other real consistency with the CM answers is the fade out of FP when FP+ is rolled out. :(

Uugh! I have 2 people with extra tickets from 2009. It will be very upsetting if we will not be able to make reservations for everyone. Does anyone know if the old tickets can be linked from home?

Thank you for your response. I guess I'll have to just get used to the idea that we may have to purchase our tickets in advance, but I don't like it. Funny, I'm less enthusiastic about this trip than our previous trips and it's because I don't see how this My Magic can really enhance guest experience.

Vinotinto,

I completely agree with ya! I am not nearly as excited about our Nov trip bc the whole FP+ and relying on smart phones and Disney's spotty IT combined makes me nervous! From the little but if info that is out there I dont see how this ride reservations 60 days in advance can enhance guest experience. more likely it will stress us out...worrying about which rides to book and when and at what parks and does that match with dining plans and what if my family changes their minds one morning and wants to do a diff park, or weather is bad it kid gets sick, etc....
And we weren't planning to purchase tickets until the last minute either!! I Just like to spread the cost of the trip out somewhat. We will probably take a break from our annual disney trips after this year to see how it all pans out for awhile. :(

Along these lines, I did make an observation when we were there 3 weeks ago. Normally at WDW everyone is engaged, looking around, etc... This trip we noticed sooooo many people with their heads down, immersed in their phones, not paying attention, running into people/things. It's sad, but with all of this, it's necessary. I know I was guilty of using our time standing in line to check wait times or check the DIS. It was nice to be able to do that, but it also takes you out of enjoying the moment. It gets to a point where you will be at a major disadvantage if you don't concede and become part of the technology.

Hmm...saw a report on Facebook from someone currently there this weekend that they are testing the Magicbands...hasn't heard of another test running yet.

probably wasnt a test it was probably someone who has gotten their Magicband, my GF's family member is working on the project to convert the AP's to Magicbands. anyway my GF has her magicband now as do other family members of people working on the project. we were at the MK yesterday and she used it, and got a million questions from Guests and CM's lol. really right now with no FP+ test going on it works just like a RFID ticket the touch to pay isnt up yet and for fast pass machines she was able to use her old hard RFID ticket. so really it just worked to get into the park, anyway i'm not sure if the hard ticket and band were just duplicates of the same RFID code or something in the system was changed to allow her to still use both but it could be part of this "test" so take the info they both worked as a grain of salt. anyway thats probably the "test" people saw. on another note im trying to get her family member to hook me up too! wish me luck lol..

It could be a MagicBand only test...but it was the person actually with the MagicBand that reported it, not just a sighting of one.

interesting, well i know for a fact that none of the MagicBand extra stuff worked (FP+ or Touch to pay) this weekend because we had one with us and it did nothing but get into the park. that being said maybe a resort or something was testing it for their rooms? i know i only saw one other person yesterday with one and that was a CM testing it.

I briefly had a FP+ on my reservations too. Additionally, I also saw a tab under MDE that said MagicBands, so naturally I clicked on it and it brought me to this page!

And guess what else I found!

Please say I win a prize!!

BTW, read this quote from the site; made me laugh a little bit!

We know that many of you are excited to give FastPass+ a try, and we ask for your patience during this testing period.

Well the Disney IT team continues to show expected results. I went to MDE to confirm that my Fireworks Dessert Party reservation was there and a window popped up asking me to take a survey. When I chose "YES" it took me to ESPN.com.

:confused3
