MyCokeRewards points inflation is makin' me mad!

Although I am thankful for the program, it has been getting less generous each year!

A couple of years ago 24 points got you a free 20oz Coke..............then it jumped to 30 points.........and for 2012 it will cost you 40 points!

A twelve pack used to be reasonable and jumped a while back and this year was nudged up by ten more points.

I have learned to "cash in" my points each year by Dec 31st because each Jan 1 the "cost" goes up.

So.............each year be sure to spend your points before the next year starts, otherwise you may wake up on January 1st and find that your points are not worth as much as they used to be.

Something else I have learned from collecting Coke reward points (I just started in October) is the 12 ounce can 12 pack gets you only 10 reward points and it costs about $3.50 for the 12 pack. At Kroger you can get the smaller plastic cokes bottles that are either 10 or 12 ounces in an 8 pack for $4.00 and you get 3 points per bottle times 8 bottles= 24 points for an 8 pack vs 10 points for a 12 pack. SO now I buy the plastic bottles 8 pack or sometimes the bigger 20 ounce bottle 6 pack if they are on sale. You still get 3 points per bottle for those times 6 is 18 points for a $4.00 six pack.

I only have about 600 points so far but off and on I have spent a few hundred points entering contests. I would have about 800 had I not spent some.

In a way...........you are right

I had to wait until I saw the points go up 2 years in a row before I felt comfortable venting.

So.............we all have about 360 plus/minus days to save and spend our points before the next increase.

Two years ago they had the $1.00 off coupon for 12-packs of cans. That was a great reward, and probably the reason it disappeared.

Well in my house, Diet Coke is all my husband will drink other than beer. So we'd be buying it whether they have the points or not.

So based on that, whatever I get with the points is a bonus no matter how many points it is.

I guess that's why it hasn't bothered me when the points go up every year.

You are correct that you're getting more points but you're also paying more per ounce for the bottles than you are the can. A 12 pack give you 144 oz ( about 2 1/2 cents/ounce) If you buy an 8 pack of 12 oz bottles, you're getting 96 ounces for $4.00. That comes out to cost you 4 cents/ounce. Just about twice as much as the cans. I'd rather pay less for the product than get a few more points.

As to the OP, I generally only spend my points on the Wed deal of the day. In the last few months, I got a $50 Bass Pro GC, $25 Best Buy GC, $10 Subway CG and about 25 coupons for a free 12-pack. I usually save the 12 coupons and use them when a local chain grocery store has them on sale B2G2 or G3 Free. This is about 1 a month or so. Sometimes they even have B2G2(or3)F + a box of crackers/bag of chips. I end up paying about $2 because they coupon limit is $4.99 and their price is $5.99 but it's still a great deal. 5 packs of Coke and a box of crackers/bag of chips for $2.00 and I only have to use 2 coupons for the ones that I "buy".

I remember my first reward was for a $25 virtual Simon Mall Visa gift card (which I promptly used to buy a Disney GC online). It was 625 points. After that I got a wine package for my Royal Caribbean cruise for 1580 points- it was worth about $175 (bottles of wine and gratutity). Those were the good old days!

My first reward was also that virtual Simon VISA and I also converted it to a Disney card. That would have been in 2007.

My second reward was Live Nation concert cash, which was also an incredible deal. I spent like 1,000 points and was able to buy two tickets and half of a third.

My advice is to watch for specials. The pre-Christmas ones were good and included merchandise gift cards and Coke 12-packs.

I always donate my points to my daughter's school so I have never really worried about how many points it takes to get anything.

I remember seeing the RCCL Wine Package a long time ago but when I saw it, we had just cruised (we cruise RCCL often). I vowed I would not spend any of my points until new RCCL packages were posted on MCR but that never happened. I do remember getting a couple of the Simon Mall Visa cards, which I used towards Disney if I remember correctly.

In November (or December), I was lucky to get, 3-$50 Best Buy GCs, 1-$25 Home Goods/Marshalls/TJ Maxx GC, 1-$25 Home Depot GC and 1-$10 Subway card.

I have begun saving again and have a few gallon zip locks filled with caps along with a large binder clip holding about 30-40 codes from soda packages adn waiting to use them for double rewards.

Once in a while, after/before a holiday, I will use the Snapfish offers (I did get some mugs once and just purchased a photo ornament with the MCR) but that is just when I need it.

I, too, have noticed the points have gone up but my dh drinks way too much Diet Coke as well as my mother and sil, so they too save the caps and give to me.

I really wish they would let us input more than 300 points a week. I would LOVE to get rid of all the caps that are in my work desk drawer!!!

If you've got more caps than you can enter, you may want to consider having someone else set up a separate account. I"ve got all my point "eggs" in one account basket, which seemed like a good idea at the time. However, I've found out that some offers are limited:
I were able to get a one day pass to Universal for 1000 points, but the offer is limited to one per account, so my traveling buddy will have to buy another ticket. It's a bit frustrating to have over 3000 points in my account, and not be eligible to get another ticket, but I understand following the rules.
Live and learn: My traveling buddy's opening an account, and will get my extras.
I don't accrue that many points, just don't redeem them often. I'm pretty picky - looking for a point exchange around 10 points to the dollar value if I can find it. That makes it easy to just slide the decimal over and see what things things are "overpriced" - like ice cream scoops for 750 points. That's not worth $75 to me.
