My 3 year old was at her weekly swimming lesson today, and the teacher decided it was time to ditch the arm bands.

For the last 2 weeks, she has had next to no air in them, and been using a float.

Today she used no arm bands and no floatation aids, and did two widths (about 15-20 feet) on her own, then did most of the length of the pool unaided (maybe 25-30 feet), and in fact only stopped when she knew she could put her feet down at the shallow end.
It was what you might call a "breakthrough" lesson...I was really proud of her :-)

That's really good. :thumbsup2:

She was a lot better than me when I was younger. The only certificate I got for swimming in my whole life was for essentially getting in the pool... :lmao:

Excellent news:thumbsup2

I bet your DD was chuffed to bits:)

No wonder you are so proud, being able to swim at three is some achievement

Great news. That is well done for a 3 year old :thumbsup2

a big congrats, you are deservedly very proud, My Ds only learnt when I promised him at the age of 7 if he threw away the float and armbands I'd take him to Disneyworld, He did, and now we're 4 years later down the line, I guess his learning to swim brought me much more pleasure as I'd never have found the DIS if he hadn't!

Can I ask how long she's been swimming.

My 2 DD have just started swimming lessons. One is 4 and the other is just 3. We've had 5 lessons and they will blow bubbles in the water but will not put their heads under water yet.

We go away in July and I would love to think they will be able to at least jump in and not come up spluttering and coughing - like me :rotfl:

Well done to your daughter - I think she's done fantastic. (did you need a tissue?)

an olympic swimmer in the making ehhh! you must be so proud, that is some achievement.

That's great stuff :) I didn't learn to swim until i was 8 when we moved abroad and I was terrified.

Molly is confident but can't swim unaided and sadly we had to stop her lessons when the little man came along. Hope to start him off once Molly goes to school in September.

You must be very proud :)
