i go to a lady doctor. after years of not going to the doctor when i hit the big 40 i decided i better go get checked out so i made an appointment with a lady doctor. i purposely looked for a lady doctor, no man is going to touch me.
she seems like shes a good doctor she spends more than enough time with her patients. so what do you think?

sounds to me like you have a thing for women wearing rubber gloves.

I personally think that only deciding factor of a doctor is if he or she is a good practioner of his/her trade and you feel comfortable seeing him/her for medical problems.

I don't know if they both have issues in this case. I've heard plenty of women saying that they don't feel comfortable going to a man or a woman for THAT exam and maybe the OP feels the same way for whatever he needs done.

I agree...I think it is wrong for people to say he has issues because he does not want to see a man dr.I would not feel ok with a women dr...and that is just how I feel...I do not think there is something wrong with it.My dh had to go to a male dr one time and he felt very weird (his dr is a older women).I think it is his wife that should not be worried about it.

I would only see a woman doctor for the more personal areas if that makes me odd so be it.

It almost seems like they are both making going to the doctor seem sexual. OP, you do realize that every time you see a doctor you don't have to strip off your clothes and turn your head and cough, right? Why would you not want a male doctor evaluating your for a cough, or headaches or any other normal thing that people see a doctor for? Are you this paranoid about other men "touching" you in your everyday life?

You wife has some serious insecurity issues. Why would she be all worried about you seeing a female doctor? She realizes it's a doctors visit and not a massage, right?

i have no problem witha male doctor examing me for something thats not downstairs. yes i know everytime you go to a doctor you dont have to turn your head and cough or get a finger you know where, but when it is time im sure glad its a female doctor. but you cant have a male doctor for bloodpressure check etc. and than go to a female doctor just for downstairs i think the doctor will have a problem with that dont you think.

First, I think that your wife has a few issues if she thinks that our cheating on her because you go to a female MD.

Second, I think that you have a few issues if you will not go to a male Dr because "no man is going to touch me". Sure hope you never need a heart tranplant and the only Dr available is male.

The Priority is your Health. Sounds like there are other issues at play here rather than "cheating" because you see/saw a female doctor.
Time to have a serious talk to clear the air about WHAT this is really about!

I thought the "No man is going to touch me" line was weird. He's a doctor dude. He's not gleefully waiting for you to come in so he can figure out ways to touch you. Sheesh.

Agreed. I'm sorry if it sounds offensive but to me this whole line of thinking is just silly. Just my opinion. And, if I were a female doctor I think I would be MORE than a little creeped out to think that my patient is thinking wooohooo I'm glad this is a woman touching me! YUCK!

Doesn't make you odd, no more than it makes me odd that I am the opposite, I don't want a female ob/gyn only like men. What is odd is that the OP's wife thinks that by DH going to a female Dr that there is something going on. Unless he has given her other reasons for this belief.

I can't believe some of the responses here. Maybe the OP did have something that happened in the past, we don't know.

I wonder how many of you would say the same thing to a woman. I bet a lot of you would assume that maybe something had happened to her and she didn't want to see a Dr. of the opposite sex.

Drs aren't offended by this, so why are so many people here.

To the pp that made the remark about jthis being the same as airport scanners, no it isn't. You don't have a choice unless you want to fly. There are a multitude of Drs around, you make your choice of who you want to see.

I do agree that Drs could care less about seeing you naked, however, it isn't about the Dr and his comfort level, it is about the patient and their comfort level.
