Having a WILD Time!
Sunday, December 1
Hi guys! I'm sorry it took so long for me to update again, I have no idea how I went so long without being on the DIS! I guess I've been busy? I have no idea lol! But I'm ready to start Day 2!
Sometime during the day before, I added a breakfast reservation for our first official morning in Disney, so my alarm went off bright and early at 6:15. I did not want to get up, I was exhausted still from the day before, but you quickly get over being tired when you realize you're waking up in Disney World!
I took a shower and dried my hair and woke Brandon up...how he can sleep through my hair dryer is beyond me! He of course protested, but I reminded him he's the one who wanted me to add this breakfast so we had to go.
Somehow, we ended up being 10 minutes late to our ADR, which was at 7:50. We arrived at Boma at 8:00 and checked in, and actually got seated right away which was nice! I hate being late for ADR's, I think it's so rude, but for some reason, we were moving in slow motion that morning, and I think Brandon forgot how far AKL is from everything.
Brandon ordered the infamous juice and I got hot tea, which was a mistake. I was so thirsty that morning, and sometimes if you drink something hot, it just makes it worse, so I kept drinking his juice...luckily our server kept coming back and refilling it!
Here's what I got from the buffet to start with:
Scrambled eggs, sausage, and the bread pudding french toast thing that they have. I miss the goat cheese scrambled eggs they used to have, they were so good! The plain ones I had this morning were awful, they were way too runny or something, I couldn't even eat them. It's weird, I like eggs and omelets and everything, but they need to be almost overcooked or I think they are gross.
Brandon was going to go back up to the buffet to get an omelet, so I asked him to get me one as well. So I just sat at the table, playing with my phone, and I realized he was taking a long time...so long that the server asked if he left lol. I said no, he just went to get an omelet, but I turned around and looked for him and couldn't find him. Then I get a text from him, saying he's in the bathroom, throwing up.
What? Apparently, he ate so fast he made himself sick. I didn't even notice when we were at the table, but he said he was so hungry that he inhaled everything and that it made him nauseous. So he was in the bathroom for a really long time! Finally he came back, with 2 omelets, and by then, I wasn't even hungry anymore, so I had like, 2 bites and gave it to him. He finished and we were ready to leave, I was kind of disappointed that morning at Boma. Usually it's one of our favorite places for breakfast, it still is, I love it, but I felt like I was sitting there alone the whole time, which was boring. However, it did show me that no one cares when you're alone in a Disney restaurant lol! No one even looked at me, and trust me, I paid attention!
We left, and before we made our way out of AKL, I had to get a few pictures of the lobby! I love AKL so much, I loved staying there with my sister and my niece last year, it's just so peaceful and relaxing there! And I just love how the lobby smells, the whole resort actually, it smells like a campfire and it's wonderful! I'm pretty sure I'll be staying there on my next trip with Brandon, whenever that will be!
The Christmas tree in the lobby was beautiful!
Not sure if you can tell from the pictures, but the lights on the tree actually match the resort, yellows and oranges...it's just so pretty!
We walked around a little, and then we were ready to go...I was anxious to get to a park!
Of course, we were headed to Animal Kingdom! Not my favorite park, but I do look forward to coming here at least once on every trip! Everest is one of my favorite rides, so I was hoping to do that a few times, and of course, I had to see Festival of the Lion King!
We went in, and I basically was speed walking through the Oasis...I was hoping Brandon wouldn't want to stop and look at all of the animals like he always does, but he did.

I love the animals, but I felt like we didn't have time!!!
This one, however, was too cute not to stop and look at!
It's like a dog/kangaroo thing...it's adorable!
After looking at the dog/kangaroo for a few minutes, we had to get moving to Asia! I was hoping it was still early enough that we could do Everest a few times and not have to worry about FP's!
The Asia section of AK might be one of my favorite areas in all of Disney World. I know I said I didn't like AK all that much, but I just mean, out of all 4 parks, it's my least favorite. There are things about AK that I just love and Asia is one of them. It's just so pretty and perfectly themed, and it's even more beautiful at night!
We made it to Everest and I think it was only a 10 minute wait, so we hopped in line!
Of course, we had to wait for the front row, like we always do, which adds maybe an extra 5 minutes to your wait, but it's so worth it to get views like this!
It was a little foggy that morning, and super humid, but it ended up being a pretty nice day!
Since the wait time was still only 10 minutes when we got off, we decided to go on again!
YETI!!!
We thought about riding Everest once more, but decided against it, since Brandon wasn't feeling good in Boma, we didn't want to risk anything happening in the parks! We went over to Camp Minnie Mickey instead, to catch the first showing of Festival of the Lion King!
What an amazing show!!! I usually don't have the patience to sit and watch shows in Disney, because I want to be riding rides, but this one is just perfect! It makes me regret not taking dance lessons more seriously! I have no desire to be performer in anyway, but that show makes me wish I could be a dancer in it!
When we got out, I wanted to meet some of the characters that are in the Camp Minnie Mickey area, but all of the lines were too long! I especially wanted to meet Pocahontas, but the line for her was crazy, and she wasn't even out yet!
The Christmas trees in the area were adorable, because they were all themed after certain characters!
I was kind of obsessed with the Minnie tree I guess!
I also really wanted to meet Pluto that morning. I was wearing a Pluto shirt and a Pluto bow, so I wanted to meet him, but I forgot that he wasn't in the Camp Minnie Mickey area, he was all the way across the park near Dinoland. We did not feel like walking that far, so we checked the wait time for the safari and it was 30 minutes. We were going to wait, but the line looked like it would actually take much longer than 30 minutes, so we decided not to. Since I knew Pluto would definitely be in MK, we decided to hop over there!
I had no desire to deal with MK parking, and anyway, we wanted to visit one of our favorite places in Disney anyway, so we parked at the Wilderness Lodge! I always have to visit here on each trip, it's my home resort, the place I love more than anything, and Brandon loves it just as much, it's very special to us. We've only stayed here twice, but we're just obsessed with it.
When we walked in, it was as beautiful as always, and all decorated for Christmas!
(See, I say my next trip will be at AKL, but looking at my Wilderness Lodge pictures makes me want to stay there again! Maybe a split stay?)
We went outside to catch the boat to MK, but first, I had to stop to take a million pictures. I just love this resort so much!
I asked Brandon to take a picture of me in front of my beautiful lodge, but I'm so awkward posing for pictures that out of like, 5, this is the best one...and it's awful lol.
What can I say, I just really hate pictures of myself, and I especially hate when Brandon takes pictures of me, because I can't help myself, I always have to make a stupid face or do something ridiculous. If only you guys could see the pictures that I didn't put here!
We strolled over to the boat, and what do you know, we had perfect timing for once, the boat was already there, just getting ready to let people on! We grabbed a seat and sat and relaxed as the boat sailed us over to the Magic Kingdom! It's seriously one of my favorite things about the Wilderness Lodge, that you can take a boat to MK. It's just such a nice way to relax on a warm, sunny day in December in Disney World!
Up next...Magic Kingdom! Do I get my picture with Pluto?
