My "Week of Counter Service" dining reviews

This was our lunch on our first Magic Kindgom Day. We got there at about 11:30- no line at all. I took the kids upstairs while DH ordered and got the food.

DH got the fish and chicken with fries and I got just the fish with fries. The kids both got macaroni and cheese with grapes, yogurt and milk. This is one of my favorite CS meals. The food was good and hot and the service is smooth. This meals gets an A from us.

Side note: The upstairs area at CHH is heaven. So quiet and peaceful. I loved looking out the window at the crowds while enjoying a leisurely meal. There are a ton of tables up there and there were maybe 3 families there. I don't think people realize you can go upstairs to eat. Definitely a hidden gem.

There were 3 pieces of fish in my meal, 2 pieces of fish and 3 chicken nuggets in DH's. Though it looks like frozen Mrs. Paul's fish sticks from the outside, it's actually real fish.

Macaroni and cheese at WDW is more Stouffer's than Kraft. Either you like it or you don't- we love it :)

I love that you get 2 sides with each kids meal. I always got grapes as one of the sides, and the kids would snack on them later in the day.

I have eaten better meals at the local mall food court, sorry but this just doesn't look good, and I would have been disappointed especially at the prices they charge:(

I should have just stayed with the rice. I have had food from there with the rice and it was much better. I subbed noodles cause that's what the kids wanted. They ate it up, and since DH and I were hungry we ate it too. But I agree, I have had better at Panda Express.

We think Disney does a fantastic job with CS overall. And we also love CHH!! Looking forward to reading more of your reviews as we are trying to decide where to use our CS credits next month. Thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed review!

Shhh, don't tell people about the upstairs seating at Columbia Harbor House! We want it to stay quiet!

CHH is one of the CS that I want to try in September. Not sure I will like it because I don't like fish but I love hummus so that is what I am going to try.

The plan had been to go have dinner at Tortuga Tavern after our midday break, but I didn't realize that it was only open from 11-4 (why, during the crowded summer this is the case I will never know.) So, we went next door to Pecos Bill instead.

It was probably the worst time to show up, around 7pm, but we were still able to find a table. This is a big, indoor air conditioned location, but the seating is very tight. We left out stroller outside because it was nearly impossible to maneuver it through the tables. We found another window seat without having to do too much hovering. DH sat with the kids while I got the food.

Side note: We used the free undercover tourist app and it worked great for planning out CS meals. We'd sit down, use the menus on the app to decide what to get for everyone and then DH or myself would go get the food.

Even though the seating area was packed, the was no line. I walked right up to a CM and ordered. The self service machines were on, but I was using a gift card and you have to go to a CM for those.

DH got the BBQ sandwhich and fries. I got the chicken caesar salad. I got the kids turkey sandwich for DD and PB&J for DS (neither of which are on the online menu, but they are there). The food was good and tasty and the toppings bar is great! I liked the salad so much I ordered it again later in the week. Pecos Bill gets and A- from us.

DH's BBQ sandwhich. He'd already eaten half of it when I snapped a photo. He said it was very enjoyable:

Kids PB&J at WDW are those little packaged unscrustable things. They don't look very good to me, but the kids loved them:

DD and her turkey sandwhich. We had about six of those grape packages left over at the end of the week.

Thanks for the reviews! Definitely going to CHH or Pecos Bills in Oct (usually hit Cosmic Rays). I really appreciate the kids meal info too! We also end up with tons of those grape packets after every trip! Your kids are so cute!

Plus DH started getting annoyed with me always saying "Wait, I have to take a picture!" so I don't have pictures of everything.

I hear this all the time!;) Sometimes though, DD11, will help me "set up" the shot. She'll even go so far as to hold up a napkin behind the food to make a nice backdrop!:rotfl2:

I have to agree-those noodles looked really plain and bland.

Can't wait to read more....

Joining in as well.

I am going next June with two little ones and planning to do mostly CS meal.

Thanks for the reviews so far!

Of the two I have been to (Lotus Blossom and Pecos Bills), I completely agree with you. I had been to Lotus Blossom and thought it was great food for a good price. On our last trip we had really looked forward to eating there and were really disappointed. Flavorless food.

We love Pecos Bills--mostly for the toppings bar!

Can't wait to read more.

I am joining in and can't wait to read more. Your children are adorable!
