It is an annual tradition for hubby and I to spend Thanksgiving on the Disney Wonder. In the past, I have always hated dealing with the crowds at the airport. The ship leaves on Thurs. and returns on Sun., so by flying out a day early, that puts us right in the prime crowded time.
But this year, when I see the crowds (and hopefully I will!), I will be glad because it will be such a welcome change from last year. Due to 9/11, O'Hare was literally almost a ghost town on the Weds. before Thanksgiving. It was even more deserted than it would be on a normal day, and the National Guard was stationed at the security checkpoints. What a frightening time to be an American...9/11 was still fresh in everyone's minds, and very few people dared to take a plane.
This year, I am thankful that there have been no more attacks and that Americans are slowly but surely managing to get on with their lives and return to some sense of normalcy. 9/11 was horrific, but you can't keep Americans down for long! This year, I HOPE there are crowds, and I'm especially thankful that we've been spared any further attacks.
