My very weird day at Magic Kingdom

Since the inception of the fastpass, you have been able to get another one when your return window opens, or in 2 hours, whichever is sooner.

If you don't believe this, just look at the TSM fastpasses. Not unusual to see return times of 3-4pm at 10 am. Yet you can get a new fastpass at noon.

Honestly, the fact that Disney is actually enforcing the rules for fastpasses now should not come as any hardship. Complain all you want, it won't change anything. We have very, very rarely used our fastpasses after the window. And yet the only times we haven't gotten to ride an attraction has been due to the ride going down.

Take a gander at the Theme Parks board. The number of fastpass threads this last week has been ridiculous. And the number of tantrums over the new enforcement has truly been illuminating.

We were at MK on March 7 and also had issues with Space Mountain being down. The FP problem didn't really arise, but they were very carefully examining each ticket as you passed by. Epcot and HS the next day were also smooth sailing.

But at the request of a friend's daughter, on March 17 we went to HS. What a crazy time! The family kept saying they wanted to go on the rides, wouldn't listen to us about a noon arrival being too late, didn't understand how FPs work, and weren't too happy with the fact we managed only Aerosmith and two Star Tours (and then one of those broke down, now that I think of it!). Crowds were substantial.

Anyone know when the FP enforcement changed? This creates a major issue for how we have been tackling the parks. It has always been our strategie to be able to queue up Fasspasses as the day moved on then return to the park that evening and ride all of the attractions. It also allowed flexibility in the schedule without having to head back quickly and miss out on something special that might be more important. To be honest I'm now more interested in learning why they decided to enforce it after all these years! This was one of the best ways not be tied to an itinuary. I think this has just ruined my day ;(

Lots of debate about this one elsewhere on the board (check Attractions board). Mostly speculative at this point. If I understand correctly all Disney is saying is that the time enforcement is preparation for its new enhanced FP system. I sure hope the enhancements are good because the inconvenience isn't!

Added: just popped back over there and see that they have made it a sticky topic. Go to: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2897213
