Firstly, I would like to say hello to everyone, this is my first post, but have been visiting for a while...:surfweb:

We have just booked our first trip to Disney World, staying at OKW, Jan 30th 2012...so excited

We have got the ultimate 14 day passes, if we use them for the evening we get there (Day 1) we they still be valid for our last day (Day 15)?

Many thanks in advance and sorry if it has been asked before :flower3:

Welcome to the DIS :goodvibes

This has been the subject of recent discussion on here but Wayne the moderator was told they were good for 15 days on his recent trip.

Realistically though you will be shattered the first night. Even with excitement of your first trip.

Even if you land late afternoon it takes a couple of hours to get through immigration/travel to the hotel/check in.

If you go fancy doing something the first night then you could get the boat to DTD for something to eat and a taste of disney.

Welcome to Disboards.:goodvibes

The official line from Disney is if you use it on your 1st day you will not be able to use it on your 15th day, they are 14 day passes. Unofficially yes they will work. I tested it out last month after numerous discussions on here.
We had 14 day passes that worked 15 days and 21 day passes that worked 22 days.
That was last month, who knows if Disney will at some point close the loophole, you can't know until you try, at this point it is then too late for you to do anything if they change their policy, you won't be able to use them on your last day.
What time you getting there? majority of people do not want to goto a park on their 1st day, remember you are 5 hours ahead of Florida time so if you get to OKW by say 6pm that is really 11pm for you, most people get a bite to eat, goto a supermarket or goto Downtown Disney to get a bit of Disney. Not many go into a park, we have once in 26 visits, and that was only because it was Xmas day we arrived.

Don't worry about asking a question multiple times, you can use the search facility if you want but we don't mind answering again or pointing you to a previous response.
Looking forward to helping you plan.:goodvibes

I agree with dixosontour, on your arrival day you will be exhausted by the time you get to OKW. By the time you get to the hotel, check in, unpack, and have some food it is going to be late evening and you will be ready for bed.
The following morning you will probably all be wide awake at stupid o'clock so make use of the time and get to a park for rope drop.

P.S.
Welcome to the DIS.:thumbsup2

Hi and welcome :goodvibes

I just want to give a different perspective on being "shattered the first night"

While this is true for many, everyone is different. We always go out late on our arrival night and are rarely back at our room long before midnight. It also helps us adjust pretty much instantly to the time change. That said, we never do a park on our first night, and opt to head to Downtown Disney for dinner, shopping and some photos, so I can't offer any personal experience on the validity of the tickets.

Thank you for the answers...

I'm guessing you are all right and we won't be wanting to go to the parks when we get there....didn't really think about it properly :rolleyes1

I'm definitely over thinking things, there is so much to plan....:confused3

I reckon this is what we will do, go to Downtown Disney for a while...I think the kids will be so excited they will last out till at least 9pm...can't say the same for me and hubby though

Please do ask away so we can help you plan :)

I know this is really sad, but we too are shattered and unpack, eat etc, but we also can't resist a ride on the monorail!

I'm afraid we've turned into a first night Magic Kingdom visit tradition too, get your tickets, ride PoTC, eat at Pecos Bills and then like 2Tiggies said, get yourself on Florida time - but we've only been there for a week so every day counts (and we've got the 14 day passes as they are the same price as 7 so we haven't had to worry about validity)

:mad:We have been quite a few times to Disney, and whilst you will be totally knackered, especially if your flight is before 11am UK as you will not doubt have got up about 3am - All that Disney excitement, thats it you even managed to fall asleep!

If you dont do something the night you arrive you'll set yourself up for a about 5 days of 5am wake ups! Jet lag is a killer when you have to walk about 8 miles a day :rotfl2:

I would go along with heading to DTD, its easy to get to and there is lots to keep you occupied until its a sensible time to go to sleep, we ALWAYS aim to stay up until at least 10pm which when you have 2 kids under 3 is frankly impossible - Jet lag + Screaming children =

yet we return EVERY year without fail LOL!

We have taken go to a park on our first evening - we used to do DTD but hate the bus ride there so now we head for the nearest park for something to eat and a wonder round :goodvibes

I will be testing the validity of the 14 day tickets to the max as I want to use them for 15 days - however for us it is not such a problem as worst case is it doesn't work and I upgrade DD pass to an AP (DH & I already have AP's but this is the first trip for DD when she has been over 3)

I can confirm in 2008 and in august just gone, we entered the parks on our arrival day and on the day of leaving so yes we did seem to get an extra day, the reason we needed to go to the parks was we had a a meal booked for our arrival night, but we usually head back around 10pm which of cause is 03 AM

We like to go to HS or Downtown Disney on our first night. We are up early every day, go to bed late every night. So yes we are knacked when we get home but we look at it you have 50 weeks every year to catch up on your sleep and you may find yourself in the position where you may not be able to return to the greatest place on earth.

We usually stay in a villa but still like to go to DTD to pick up tickets and grab a bite at EoS. We also tend to visit a Walmart on the way back to stock up on supplies and once this is done we are more than ready for bed.
I think the worst mistake we made one year was to go for a meal after a Walmart trip. By the time the meal came we were all cranky, the drive back to the villa was horrendous as I was nearly falling asleep at the wheel. We have never done that since and probably never will again.

If I was the OP I would count on getting up nice and early the next day, and use that to my advantage by having an early start at your park of choice. I can't ever remember sleeping later than 5.30am on the first morning, and normally by the time I get up the kids are already by the side of the pool with Grandma :goodvibes
