My vacation from Kuwait!

Ouch! Hope you feel better & can get back to running soon!

I hope so too, thanks! it's been bothering me a little again today so I did my stretches and have been icing it a lot. I really want to try a slow run on Monday. We shall see!

I finally started putting my spreadsheet together today and it looks like my tentative plans will actually work out great! Day one has not changed at all, still doing dinner at Via Napoli and watching illuminations.

Day 2:
Rope drop at MK (Love the opening ceremony!) We'll grab breakfast at Main St Bakery then head over to Frontierland for Splash and Thunder Mountains. Once we have done both rides a couple of times we'll head back to Adventureland for PotC and maybe the Jungle Cruise, I think we skipped it last time with DN so it'll be new to him. Then it's on to Liberty Square for the Haunted Mansion and Hall of Presidents and Lunch at LTT. While we're waiting for our food I will run over to Tomorrowland for Space Mountain FP's and after lunch we'll do Laugh Floor, Buzz, CoP and TTA as well. Depending on crowd levels and how long it takes to accomplish all of this we'll either wait for Wishes or leave and come back for it later. Hopefully we'll be finished with all we want to do with enough time to maybe go to the QS at the WL or CR for dinner beforehand.
After Wishes it's back to the Boardwalk and off to bed!

I laughed out loud when I was reading that last post...it's identical to what Jasmine and I did on our first day at MK in September...the only difference was we didn't eat at the Bakery....although good lord I sure could have!!!

I'm so sorry to read about your injury; hopefully you will be back running soon.

You are going to love staying in the Epcot resort area. My favorite hotel is GF but we almost always stay in one of the Epcot resorts because the location just can't be beat. I ate at Via Napoli a few months ago; I hope you enjoy it. It will be so wonderful to walk back to your room afterwards.

That's too funny! I think most people have a touring plan for each park and just stick to it on most trips. That itinerary is pretty standard for us and it works out great every time!:thumbsup2
The one time we deviated from it was a trip with my Brother and his wife and kids last July and it ended up feeling like a totally wasted day and I left the MK really unfulfilled. It was awful!

Thanks for the well wishes on the ankle. I tried a slow run yesterday and made it all of 7 minutes before the pain kicked up so I stopped immediately which was really hard to do knowing that if I just kept going it would subside but the Doc says that'll eventually lead to a rupture and surgery. I left the gym almost in tears.:sad1:
I start physical therapy next week so I'm going to continue feeling hopeful that it will get better soon.
As for my resort choice I am very excited about being able to walk to Epcot and HS! That's most definitely part of the draw for us! :goodvibes

I think your absolutely right....we have a schedule for day one at each park and it never changes, day two is completely different but never changes trip to trip. I love it because I'm not constantly referring to our itinerary...everyone knows the drill, right down to my youngest niece!!

Oh wow - I had no idea you were in Kuwait, either! Thanks so much for all you do. I can't imagine how hard it must be for you to be away from your son.

And sorry to hear about your injury. I can totally relate. My pains really affected my time during the half-marathon. But, I'm glad I was at least able to finish. Hopefully you'll be all better soon. Take it easy! :thumbsup2

Sorry you're having so much pain. Hope the PThelps and you can get back in training!

Thanks so much and it is hard but he is in good hands with my parents and we do get to talk on the phone every day before he gets on the school bus. The time is flying by really so I'll be home before we know it!
This injury is kicking my butt! It feels worse today then it has in the 3 weeks since it happened and now my right knee is starting to bother me from over compensating trying to baby my ankle. It's so frustrating! I may have to give the long distance running a rest until I'm home for good and can actually rest it like I need to.
Well enough venting! :rotfl: Sorry about that...

I hope so too but I'm not feeling very optimistic today. It feels like it's getting worse.:confused3 I think after my PT test and the 5K at HS I'm going to have to give any kind of long distance running a break until I'm home:sad2:.

Happy MLK day folks! Hope you all had a day off from work today. We don't get many of those over here.:headache: But I'm not going to complain too much because we certainly could have it much worse.
I haven't posted an update in a while because my plans keep changing! I have decided not to do the dining plan so I have canceled a few ADRs and swapped some around too. I really would like to see how much we spend on food and compare it to the cost of the DP for four adults. I placed my Garden Grocer order this morning so most of our breakfasts and a lunch or two will be in the room. We can definitely share meals at the CS places because we always end up throwing so much away when we all get our own. I think I can spend the same amount of money (or even less) on food without it. We shall see!:goodvibes
So I changed our lunch ADR at MK from LTT to Tony's since it's been years since we've been there. Other than that day 2 has stayed the same.

Day 3 (March 5th) is the 5K at HS!:woohoo: I am running this race no mater how much pain I'm in! 800 mg of Ibuprofen will be my friend on this day. I'm not trying to win or even set a PR I just want to experience running through a Disney park.
I don't think I'm going to wake anyone up to come watch so by the time I get back to the room every body will be just getting up. We have a 9:35 breakfast ADR at Kouzzina that morning. I am really looking forward to this meal. Thank you again Queen for the pictures of those waffles! after breakfast we'll probably head over to DTD or Epcot. Not sure yet but plan on just doing whatever we feel like that day.
I forgot to mention we're also going to try forgoing the Park Hopper this time around too!:scared1: I have never not done the PH option so it should be interesting to see if we can pull it off. I think it'll be fine since we can come and go at the same park all day long. If we end up needing it I'll just add it on while we're there.
Off to bed for me... Hope you all have a great day!

We didn't buy my parents park hoppers on our recent trip. It was only a 5 day trip and I planned ADRs based on no park hopping. It was a great decision! We never regretted it for a minute.
I hate the dining plan. I think it forces you to make meal choices that you wouldn't make. We prefer appetizers/salads to dessert and I find the kids can often share meals and still have leftovers! Especially if you're using garden grocer (I love them, btw).

I hope you are feeling good enough to enjoy your run!!

We've toyed with the idea of dropping park hoppers but the boys have gotten so used to it. I'm looking forward to hopping less this year - we usually hop every day but this time I've dedicated the first four days each to one park. We'll see how it goes...

I've heard mixed review on the DDP - I haven't used it enough to feel strongly one way or another but staying off-site most of the time, we usualluy don't have that option. I liked it for my weekend trip in the fall because we didn't have to worry about splitting up the checks.

Hi there! I'm joining in. I'm sorry about your injury. The secret really is to give it rest if that is possible. You are going to love the Boardwalk. The location is just fabulous and it is so beautiful over there! I'm also interested in the 5K. I've never run one at Disney, but I'm thinking about running it next January as well as the half.

I think I have our days planned accordingly enough to not need the hopper this time. It's a pretty good savings when you're buying four tickets instead of two. Usually my DM will pay her own way but it's my thanks to her to taking care of my DS while I'm away.

This will be the first time in a while that we haven't done the dining plan and I really think I can do it cheaper paying oop. We're not usually desert types either but on the DDP we get them because it's already paid for and all. We also end up wasting so much food! We can definitely share some meals and it's more than enough.
Garden grocer is great, isn't it? It's just so darn convenient!

I used to love the dining plan but the as price goes up more and more the value for me goes down. I think for a short trip when it's just my DS and me I would use it again but not for the 4 of us.

I am sure we'll do great without the hopper too and I really think we won't need it. But I can always add it when we get there so I'm not going to stress about it.

My ankle was feeling ok today but started hurting again when I was walking to dinner but I'm running the 5K at HS no matter what!

I have the next 36 hours off and I'm going to stay off my ankle as much as possible and am hoping that will what I need to get healed up. I can run through the pain and after a mile or so it goes away (until I get off the treadmill) I don't want to have to do that but I'm getting down to the wire so it may come to just dealing with the pain for a while and just waiting to let it heal once I'm home for good in September.

I went into the half with the same mentality. I knew my groin strain was going to be an issue. I just hoped I could deal with it enough to finish and then rest afterwards. Perhaps not the best solution, but there was no way I was missing the half! :thumbsup2

We never had park hoppers on our trips. This last short trip I did by chance, but I really only used it one day. I think it's very easy to get by without it. But, we usually hit the parks early and leave by early afternoon. If we want to go back for a show/fireworks, I just plan our schedule accordingly so it's the same park.
