I'm looking for some constructive criticism from those of you "in the know."

My family will be in Orlando from Sat. Oct 4th to Sat. Oct 11th. Most of the days will be in Disney but we are also big Universal fans.

As our plan stands now we would do the following:

Sunday October 5th
-Universal Studios by 8:30-8:45 for opening
-Quick lunch in the park (suggestions?)
-Leave around 3 or 4 pm

Friday October 10th
-IOA at 8:30 for opening
-Late lunch at Mythos (1:30 or 2:00)
-Wet rides after lunch
-Husband and kids head back to Disney around 4
-Girlfriends and I stay for the HHN!!!

What do you think?
We would buy the two day two park tickets.
We would also have to purchase the HHN tickets right?
We would also purchase FOTL for HHN only.

Sounds like a good plan...but I would switch the days you want to go to Universal...I'll tell you why below. Now for the answers: You would need to purchase HHN tickets...it's a separate event and since it's a Friday night...I would definately recommend the Express passes.

The reason I was saying to switch the days is...Stay and Scream. Since HHN will be at the Studios again this year, if you're already IN the park before closing, you can stay in the holding area and get a jump on some of the houses. I've done this the past two years and can't imagine NOT doing it!

Hope that helps!

Thanks for your response. I'll take a look at switching the park days or maybe after my husband and kids leave we could head to the other park.

I looked up the ticket prices for HHN, and I'm confused. I know it's a seperate ticket event but if I already have park tickets is it less? Do you pay more to do the stay and scream thing?

if you have the 2 park 2 day tickets, you could leave ioa and go to the studios around 4:30 on the same ticket. i believe those tickets allow you to interchange parks during the day.

you will not be able to enter the studios once it is 5:00 as the park is closed for hhn set up.

what you do is buy the HHN ticket as an "ADD ON"

you show your day ticket and can buy the ADD ON ticket for HHN at a cheaper price. this is the best way for you economically.

go to the stay and scream area at 5:00. wait there for the all clear and then you will have a head start on the general crowd. people at the gate will not be let in until when the park reopens.

buy the express pass as you will need it.
only use the pass once the lines for the houses and rides are at 20 minutes out.
you can only use the pass one time each.

FYI:
you can buy the hhn ticket in advance as an add on if you call and buy it over the phone. you can buy the 2 day 2 park ticket at the same time.
or you can buy the add on which is your hhn ticket at the park that day at guest services.

i always suggest to buy the tickets in advance in case of any sell out nights.
i doubt that will happen on the dates you are going.
i buy my hhn in the second week they are on sale in order to get the ap discount.

i'll be at hhn on the 9, 10, 11, 12.
see you there.

Mac will take good care of you and since I always go opening night, I'll be sure to give a detailed report. :thumbsup2

if you will be there when i am, we gotta do a 5 minute hook up.

i love to put faces with names.

i totally and completely love HHN.

ask metro, he'll tell you.....

I think I've got a solid plan. We'll be back in for the stay and scream by 5pm on the 10th. Maybe before then we'll find some liquid confidence. I'm the easily immersed, easily amused type. I did VanHesling's in LA last year and was the only person in there reacting to anything. I have to admit, it was pretty hokey but it still was enough to make my adrenaline pump like crazy!

This forum is great. Thanks for all the quick and helpful replies. I'm sure I'll have more questions so it's good to know there are people ready and willing to help.

One of my friends that will be coming is a halloween freak. I'm really hopeful that she will have a great time and it will be a trip to remember.

From what I hear about the Halloween event at Universal no Halloween fan will leave disappointed. I'm a Halloween freak myself (LOVE good haunted houses) and know several and Universal has a great reputation.

I'm so jealous! Someday...

Well, now I'm all excited and have months and months to wait:rolleyes1

I've seen pictures posted of people on stilts walking around with drinks in test tubes. Anyone know what's in those? How much are they? They look fun and effective.

I am envious of all of you already making plans!!! I won't get to go back to HHN until Oct 2009 (DH leaves for Iraq next month for 15 months)..... but I love hearing all of you making your plans already! :)

Just have to chime in quickly, you will LOVE Mythos. IMHO opinion, it is the absolute BEST food/atmosphere in a theme park. You asked about suggestions for a quick lunch, I personally am not a big fan of the CS places in the park. If you take a quick walk out though, though are a bunch of great restaurants on City Walk. :goodvibes

since the op wants a late lunch, they should make a ressie that morning they are in the park for mythos.

mythos usually closes at 3:00.

or call and make a ressie a few days prior to your universal visit.

like the above posted stated, mythos is great!

it has been written up in the orlando magazines as being number 1 for many years.

I think I will call when we get to Orlando and make the Mythos reservation. I am very excited about eating here. I know it will be a big hit with the whole group! Thanks for all the great suggestions.
