Hi,
Some of you may remember my post a couple months ago regarding my lay-off at work and whether or not we should keep our planned trip in Dec. I have decided to become a stay at home mom and we are now living off my elementary school teacher husband's income (which was quite an adjustment).
I have not posted much but I have really enjoyed reading the budget board and it has become one of my favorite boards here on the DIS. I have gotten some great ideas to supplement our income from home.
We are going to go to WDW in Dec and I am so excited that we did not cancel our trip. At this point it is almost totally paid for too! :Pinkbounc

DH & I counted our change jar last night (which we have been keeping for a few months but had not counted) $230!!!!!!!!!!!! It is funny as this would have meant very little to me just a few months ago, but now it is so exciting. I can't believe how much more I enjoy the small pleasures in life and appreciate things like I never used to before.

Just wanted to share my exciting news! :)

Congrats and keep up the saving, You will be so so happy there in Christmas time!:Pinkbounc

I am so happy to hear that you are still going on your trip. I remember reading your thread and hoping that you would not cancel your trip. It is wonderful to hear that you are almost paid up too. Wonderful news.

You know sometimes I find the most happiness out of little things rather then the big moments that I try to set up. We had the most fun just hanging out at the hotel pool that I wish I would have scheduled a down day. It would have saved us a days worth of tickets at the park. But you live and learn.

I hope that you are enjoying your time at home. I have been home for a few years and when my daughter goes to kindergarten in two years it is back to work for me. Time does fly.

Thanks for the update.

When we moved for my DH's new job, I became a stay at home mom. That was 10 years ago (my twins were only 4 months old at the time), and it was the best thing we ever did.

I decided to become a home economist and found many ways to save money and live on a lot less. It has all been worth it.

I am so glad you are still going on your trip. Disney can be done on a high price tag or on a buget and even on a tight budget! I am sure you will find a way to make it all work.

BTW, you may want to do a yard sale this summer to add to your total. You can get rid of a bunch of stuff and make some money along with it.

Good Luck with your new career as a SAHM (stay at home mom).
DJ

Congrats on the savings!! We will count our change very soon!Congrats too on your new "job". There is none more rewarding than a SAHMom!

I love Disney at Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:earsboy:

:jumping1: Happy for you and great job in saving your change. My children find change every day while we are out on errands. Thanks to those that don't think change means anything.:p
