My two cents on how to avoid Towncar Company problems

In the end, to me at least, DME is vanilla... the towncar service I use is chocolate! ;) :teeth:

Hey! Are you implying that vanilla is somehow lesser than chocolate??? :lmao:

But to get back to the subject at hand, I thought about all the options, and this time I went for the town car. Normally I rent a car, and in the past on other package vacations I've taken the free bus transfers, but this time a town car seemed more 'right' for us. Since we're staying on site and going 100% Disney this trip, we won't need a car during the week. And although DME sounded neat, I decided to splurge a bit and use a town car service. Why not?

I agree with those who have said that no one option is right for everyone. We all made our choices, and we all have our reasons for doing so. :thumbsup2

Personally, I think you made the right choice. ME is okay. Car service is much better.

Ah, but I go back to what I stated earlier.... how many bad experiences vs good experiences are there in the towncar industry? with everything, there are always the hiccups, and we are more likely to hear about them.

All that you can do is hope for the best and handle hiccups when they happen, which is most likely not very often.

I think that like anything, we will see more negative than positive reviews here. How boring it would be if everyone with a good experience started a post saying 'DME picked me up on time, it took 45 minutes to my resort, and my luggage arrived 2 hours later' or 'I left the terminal; XYZ car was waiting and we got to our resort 30 minutes later' WOO HOO exciting reading :teeth:

The reality is that there are highly successful town car transactions going on every day all over North America; we usually hear about the poor ones here.

Just adding to clarify that there was a post before mine which was deleted....

Town car service is generally problem free, just like ME.

It all comes down to making the decision that works best for you...

I've said it before, and I'll say it again...no particular system is without it's glitches. I've had to go in search of my towncar driver, on several occasions (same trip, each way). I've had grumpy, non-conversant drivers, I've had them tell me no stores are open so I don't get to stop...come on now, surely there are convenience stores open on Thanksgiving morning? Even after being told by the company that it would be no problem.
Yes, I have had terrific service with towncars also..more often than not in fact. And if it's a 'special' trip then I will use a towncar again. Or if I need to get to Universal from WDW, or if I have to get to the Dolphin.
But, in 3 trips with DME I have yet to have a bad experience, and only one time did a towncar get me to my resort more quickly than DME and that was when I had carryon only.
So, there are 'maybe's' with a towncar service...nothing is absolutely 100% certain. Just look at the threads on this board and you'll see what I mean.
But, as others have said, it's wonderful that there are now so many options for us all. Something for everyone. :moped: :drive: :boat:
