There is availability for groups of 3 at Cinderella's royal table, but not 2 and since you have to pay ahead of time I assume they will not refund if we only show up with 2?

I ended up saying the 3rd person was a baby. Will we get penalized for just showing up with my daughter and I? I don't want to create extra work for the cast members either- but also...

No penalty at all. I have booked for more & paid for the extra as well. I just told them at check in how many would actually be dining. The hostess said just tell the server. The server adjusted the final bill & issued a refund for the extra diners. Neither CM was the least bit put out. I got the impression it was not unusual to have adjustments to diners or the bill.

You can also call closer to your reservation and say one dropped and it will just be the two of you. The table is yours.
