The cast:
Me! The wonderful stupendous, spend-happy 21 year old celebrating her impending graduation with the rest of her student loan money! (to anyone interested, I still haven't graduated...)
My BF! The even more spend-happy guy who almost cost us our trip by running up his credit cards...
Part 2:
Well, I don't actually remember where I left off from the first part of my trip report. I could just look, but I'm at work, and my computer is a very testy old POS, that doesn't enjoy opening extra windows, so excuse any overlaps.
BTW, to any other Calgarians out there: Happy Stampeding! To Anyone who doesn't know what that means, it means I'm standing in a jewelry store wearing a cowboy hat and jeans.
Yeehaw casual week!
On our first day to Disney I had successfully humiliated myself three times - leaving our boarding passes in security, wearing my Sorcerer hat on the airplane and leaping through the bushes like a madwoman, scaring the poor Disney busdriver half to death.
After frightening the poor guy, we made our way to the MK. Now, just to give you a mental picture, imagine a nice, empty bus (yaay January crowds) with only myself, my BF, and a family with 2 small kids sitting in the back. Now, those small children are behaving beautifully! Me? Hell no! I bounced up and down in my seat, chanting "Mickey! Mickey!!! I'm coming Mickey!". Half way to the MK, my BF got up and joined the well behaved family at the back. He's just not got the vibe yet!
When we pulled up in front of MK, all you saw was a cloud of my dust racing to the gates!!! Mickey was waiting for me (just for me, btw!) and I was determined not to disapoint him. I stoped just shy of Main Street to let my BF catch up - and I was surprised to find him right on my heels. Ever seen a grown man cry?
He stoped, looked up and down Main Street U.S.A., and I watched as his eyes settled on the castle. He stood, completely silent, focused on the Castle. His eyes slowly settled down on me (I'm 5'5, he's 6'5) - and I realized there was tears in his eyes!!! I looked at him and asked "Are you impressed?". ".....yes..." was the only response I got.
Well, that magic Disney moment was brought to you by Kodak (anyone else gotten stuck in the intro to "Honey, I shrunk the audience?") and it lasted about as long as my amusement with "It's a Small World". Then off we were running like idiots towards Pirates of the Carribean. Great ride. I love it all the time! Off we ran to Splash Mountain. Down we went on Splash Mountain. If you happen to be riding Splash Mountain any time soon, could you grab my stomach? I think it's still clinging to Briar Rabbit's tail.
By that time, we were hungry and tired. Off to the Crystal Palace!!! My BF knows how to eat...and he definantly got his money's worth. I, of course, was preoccupied trying to think of a way to possibly steal Eeyore. He'd fit in my purse, right? Right?
After filling our bellies with all that good stuff, we were exhausted - but just in time for Wishes!!! Yaay, Wishes!!! Again, anyone in Calgary, the Stampede Fireworks no longer have anything for me...WDW blew it away.
Nothing was more romantic than standing on the bridge to Frontierland with my honey, holding hands looking at the sky - except for maybe the Turkey leg in his other hand. bleh.
Our trip back to POR was uneventful, and we decided to enjoy a late night swim in the pool. Great pool. And, a trend that developed for the rest of the trip, my honey went and got me hot chocolate while I relaxed in a bath! Aww!!! Backfired on him though - I fall *right* asleep with that kind of treatment.
Some observations for our first day in Disney:
* Guys are just as big suckers for Disney as we are.
* People in Florida are wusses for weather! It was still +10' C, and people had jackets on. I had a tank top on. Although, I did just come from the current cold spell of loosing your nose if you got too close to the window.
* I learned Eeyore does *not* fit in my purse.
Coming soon: My trip to WDW - Minnie, stay away from my BF!
