My Trip to the 2013 D23 Expo - That's a Wrap!

Looking forward to your detailed report! Do you sell a lot of Disney items through Ebay? Would love to check them out! Hope to see some of those photos soon - enjoy! Hope you got a good nights sleep!
:thumbsup2

 if you see the pin again PLEASE buy it

Sounds like you are having a WONDERFUL time good luck to Fran with Si & Am

It was nice to see you and Fran yesterday right at the Collector area. It was a wild day yesterday and it was nice. Glad that you and Fran had a great time yesterday and I am hoping that Fran will be able to get the Si and Am at the silent auction for your new house. Maybe I will see you again today with everything going on.

I will be looking to hear about the Art and Animation at the D22 Arena which we missed yesterday while we were at the dream Store during that day.

I am at the mickeys of Glendale store to do my shopping whole I didn't get to do it yesterday.

It sounds like you had a very successful day yesterday! I can hardly wait to see the purses! I want a Harvey bag one day. I think they are beautiful!

I can't wait to see all the goodies you bought. :thumbsup2 Aounds like an excellent and productive first day.

Si and Am were my favorites as a kid.

You had a very full first day! Were you allowed to take pictures during the Broadway and Beyond Concert?

Can you tell us about the Imagineer Reception for Sorcerers? It sure sounds good!

I hope your Saturday was even better than how your Friday sounds!

Robert

Sounds like you're really happy with the shopping and the events. Looking forward to a nice long update when you can.

Even though on paper it didn't sound as exciting as past events, as usual we are caught up in everything. If we didn't have these Sorcerer passes we would never get to see as many things are we are, but even still we are having to cut events and pick and choose.

I'll explain when I get into detail, but it is still an AMAZING time! Even for non sorcerers, just a bit more waiting and strategic planning.

How wonderful! How great you managed a meet in there as well. How kind to get Brandi that Dooney bag I bet she will be thrilled! You are such kind souls. I am so delighted you are enjoying the expo. Looking forward to the photo's of the merchandise!

:-)

You're so sweet. Brandi gets first dibs, but if she doesn't want it, I'll have a Dooney cartoon bag for sale on eBay!

Are any of your cats siamese btw? Si and Am cool :-) beautiful cats siamese. Very 'chatty' I lived in a house with one called Sydney. He use to sit on the stairs and 'talk' all day lol. Loudest meow I ever heard! Cute.

We have two Siamese, used to have three, but Sunny passed in March. Mac and Milo are the two we have right now. They are both boys about a year apart. Milo is the Senior. Oddly enough, he was born the day Fran's Father kicked the bucket. We are sure his soul did not go to Milo as he is the sweetest most gentle boy that we know. It CERTAINLY could not have been Fran's fathers soul! :rotfl2:

This is Milo the Snowshoe Siamese with his girlfriend Velcro.

This is Mac and Sunny, they are both flame-point Siamese.

He likes to stay out more than in. He is the one we are worried about will climb over the fence at the new house.

We mostly sell music and civil war stuff on eBay, but you can check out twofeathersmac. Fran bought two of every pin and is planning on listing the extras on eBay, she already has some up there!

Sounds fantastic! Enjoy everything to the max! :)

Thanks, we are doing our best!

We will get you a pluto pin if there are any left!

It was great running into you too! I have great notes on the Animation and Live Action panels. I'm sure the breaking news will have already hit, so I'll give it away now. Angelina Jolie is playing Maleficent and that's probably the biggest news, although I was much more smitten with Ty Burrell in the next Muppet Movie, but I'll get to that later. I still have to cover all the great bling we bought the first day!

It sounds like you had a very successful day yesterday! I can hardly wait to see the purses! I want a Harvey bag one day. I think they are beautiful!

The purses were great. I never even KNEW that I would be into purses until I got my first Coach about 4-5 years ago. Now, I should just sell that one on eBay because every since I started with the Dooney ones, I'm not going back to Coach! :lmao:

I can't wait to see all the goodies you bought. :thumbsup2 Aounds like an excellent and productive first day.

Si and Am were my favorites as a kid.

OMG! You wouldn't believe all the goodies! :faint: We bought a suitcase at Mickey's of Glendale just to take our purchases back to the room!

No pictures at Broadway and Beyond, but I have some great surprises from the Sherman/Menken concert! Just waiting on the slow WiFi here at the HIlton!

Well we’re here. We have been here now for three full days, and this is the first opportunity I have had to upload any photos at all. Let’s just say we barely got here on Wednesday night and leave it at that.

Thursday morning we got a slow start. We knew all the shopping and other events opened at 10AM so we really didn’t rush to get anywhere even though the Sorcerer’s lounge opened at 9AM. We were at the convention center by around 10 when we picked up our badges and realized that our first stop should be the Sorcerer’s loungs.

Once upstairs, we picked up our bling bag, which was one of those bags made out of the previous expo banners, and it was filled with stuff like a book on the Treasures of the Disney Archives Exhibit, a reproduction of a drawing, a blank notebook, a WDCC figure that they probably couldn’t sell anywhere else, and a whole bunch of other stuff that I didn’t catalog.

We first got in a line where we could register for all the sessions we wanted to attend in the Arena, Stage 28 and Stage 23. This was so that they could reserve the correct number of seats for Sorcerer’s and not have to hold 300 or so seats at all the events. Most people got to do this in advance, but evidently a number of us didn’t get the email with the link to do so which is why we had to do it that day on site.

After we did that, got coffee, some nuts in a cup and other snacks, we headed out to the Dream store for shopping. Here’s some shots of the Lounge.

They had a couple cute little displays of some of the archives in there. A lot of the archives dealt with the 50th of Mary Poppins and these were from that lot.

After this we went down to the Dream store to shop. I’ll tell you about that later, and I am going to break from my normal chronological report to tell you a few live updates.

First off, we did not get Si and Am. Here they are….

Now keep in mind that each of these cats were about 5 feet long. We would have had to take them home Sunday (tomorrow) night, find a garage to store them in and come back to sleep at the Hilton, then Monday (we hope) all our loot will fit in the car along with our luggage.

Here’s the Si and Am story. They were only at $1300 in the morning. Fran hung out to play “bidding wars” and evidently she bid as high as $6K for them when the other woman immediately shot up to $10K, at which point Fran recognized the value of money and walked away (Evidently this woman was bragging about having spent $5K on a toilet, so you can see what we were going up against). So we will not be bringing home Si and Am, (much to my relief!). As it is we don’t have enough room, even in the new house for all our stuff, we just have less, less room for everything! If that makes sense!

And on another note, at the concert tonight, they weren’t policing recording and stuff at all. About halfway through the concert I noticed that people were video recording willy nilly. I thought this will probably be all over the airwaves, so I thought I would share the finale with you, so that you hear it from me rather than someone else!

While the two composers each performed their own separate halves of the concert, I noticed one song that was missing from Sherman’s repertoire of the evening and my suspicions were quite correct, as it was saved for the finale. So please enjoy the finale of the Sherman/Menken concert. It was a great night and I am really, Really, REALLY tired. I’m glad tomorrow is the last day!

Finale - Saturday Night

I will be back to continue the Preview day AFTER the conclusion of the event because there is just too much going on to keep up! :faint:

I'm downloading the YouTube as I type. But thanks so much for taping....again.

Pity about Si and Am but I'm glad that you kept the money.

(Just listening to the song!!! :thumbsup2)

I have a few more, but thought I should just post this one now since everyone who recorded it will post this first. I have more Menken than Sherman since I have better ones of him.

I couldn't believe they weren't policing recordings so I took out my phone. Unfortunately the battery was low, so I had to pick and choose. I'm just glad it lasted for this one!

Hi thanks for the wonderful update! Sorry you didn't score the lovely ***** cats but the bidding war sounded harsh! 5k for a toilet was a tough act to follow!

I adore your cats Mac and Milo. Sorry to hear about Sunny passing :-( what pretty cats one and all. So regal and majestic you can almost feel their presence even via those photographs. I love siamese cats myself they hold this quality that they live in your house but they send you this message that you don't own them not like any other pet , they choose to stay. They dwell with you. Not as pets but as equal members of the household. Should they choose at any point to pack their little cat toys elsewhere they would. But they kinda like what you got going here and you two are kind of ok as humans go lol...

Hope you are having fun today! Fran is going to have to make up now for the lack of Si and Am !

Those Si & Am are beautiful but not nearly as much as your real ones so you are more blessed than the person that won the auction and that person doesn't have your new home ! Now you don't have to even think about where to put 5 ft long cats

Honestly though $5,000 for a toilet :scared: a toilet ???? :lmao: I don't care the history of it unless it is solid gold or had a jeweled handle I just don't get it :joker:

Loving your updates and thanks for sharing pictures of your kitties

I sent you a PM about the Harveys bag, although I'm actually not sure if it went through - I think 2.5 days at the Expo sucked out my brain. :)

It all looks so fun! I swear in 2015 I want to go!

Now I ask who on earth spend $5,000 on a stinking toilet? And frankly what on earth can they do to make a toilet worth that much money?

I look forward to hearing all about your trip!

I have the chills from the video. IASW :cloud9: It doesn't get any better or any more Disney than that. Total chills.

Okay, now that I've watched the video again pixiedust: I can comment on the rest.

That Si and Am are huge. I didn't realize they were over 5 feet each. :faint: I'm five feet tall. :rotfl: Only $1,300 in the morning? I can't believe that woman spent $10,000 on them. I agree, your real kitties are much better.

Was today the last day of the expo? Can't wait to read and see more but I'm sure you two are tuckered out. Sounds like a whirl wind of an event.

Sunny was my little pride and joy. Both Fran and I both grieved for a long time over her loss. She was disabled too. Big time, but she never let it get in her way, she was such an inspiration to us to keep persevering and we really miss her (although she did have some rather bad habits that we don't miss, but we put up with them due to her sheer will and personality).

Believe me Fran has made up for the lack of Si and Am!

I know, what could make a toilet worth $5K?????

I'm glad you enjoy the kitties. I will share more of them on the house thread, eventually.

I know, really! You do need to go! They seemed to make it better as far as the waits and both the sessions I went to today, had plenty of room. I think they are getting it!

The concert last night was definitely awesome and I will have a full report when I get there, but there were so many awesome moments prior to that. I was totally awesomed out this morning and didn't know how to react! How awesome is that???? :cool1: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

You're right, they are huge. I couldn't see what we would do with them.

Today was the last day. Fran is taking me out to a steak dinner tonight. We are going to have to make two trips home to get our purchases and luggage home. How insane is THAT?

It's totally totally double awesome. :rotfl2: I cannot even imagine as the ending was so special. I'd have been bawling.

Yum steak; where are you going? Are you still at the hotel? I, along with everyone else, can't wait to see want you two scored! :hyper: Glad it was a successful trip.
