My tree tipped over support group.

I used to have the tree tipping over problem. In an apartment we once had, I nailed the stand to the floor.

Three years ago I found "Santa's Last Stand." It's the best tree stand ever and the last one I'll ever need. The tree doesn't move in the slightest. I've never seen one in the store since....

I need that stand because that one that we have is awful. Our tree has been up since Sunday with no decorations. The kitten even climbed in it 4 times but we got her out and it was fine. Last night we decorated it and as soon as we were done it fell. I caught it, we fixed it, it fell AGAIN. This time DH shook it so much trying to get it centered in the stand that all of the lights and the decorations got messed up. I took everything off BY MYSELF and fixed it. It fell again. DH was ready to throw it outside. We finally got it straightened out but now it's tilted and driving me crazy. I really want to fix it but I am so afraid. If I touch it and it falls again I think I'll be spending Christmas alone. I hate fake trees but right now I wish that's what we had.

If a tree falls in the living room and you're in the kitchen, does it make a sound?? :teeth: The answer is yes. :earseek:

It was years ago, but I still remember hearing it and knowing exactly what happened before seeing where the noise came from.

We now tie the upper part of the tree to a hook that we screw into the adjacent window frame. :flower:

And no, I can't fix my great-grandma's ornament. I was a glass ball that she had crocheted all around. No way to fit a new one in. :guilty: I may send the crocheted (sp) part to my Grandma and see if she can 'undo and redo' it.
Maybe someone who knows how to crochet can "uncrochet" it a little, just open it up enough so you can slip a styrofoam ball inside. The sentimental part is the crocheting, right? Not the ball inside. Then you wouldn't have to worry about it breaking.

On another note, we have the best tree stand in the universe. It's one of those swivel stands, where you put the tree in, swivel it around till it's straight, and then lock it in place. It was fairly expensive, I think like $60-$75, but it has been worth every penny in the amount of hassle it saves. I highly recommend it to everyone. No more laying on the floor screwing and unscrewing those little screws, no more frustrated husband...I'm telling you, the thing has probably saved more marriages than a marriage counselor!!!!!! ;)

That was my thought too. No matter how much bubbly it get's, it's not going sing karaoke.

Oh my. Is anyone else picturing those singing Christmas trees drunkingly singing karaoke to Britney Spears?

My tree has not tipped over, (knocks on wood) yet. My cat insists on climbing it though so branches and ornaments are being found all over the house.

I'm a member this morning--the cats decided to pull it down. I hoping it scared them enough that they'll leave the &(*@&(*#! alone now!

No damage, luckily!

I will call WDW or have someone pick up a new Mickey for me, but thanks! :teeth: Heck, you should have seen the looks on my friends faces when they came into my house! They couldn't believe that I dragged two live trees (one of which is huge) into my house and put them up by myself. :teeth: And no, that's not why it tipped over. It tipped because it is so full it's hard to water. Leaning the branches up too far = tipping!
Take lots of pics in the radiant red lipstick for your dh! He needs a pic of a beautiful woman. Not those Barneys in the skimpy black outfits! :rotfl:
Ahhh...watering the tree...another joy!!!!

I found this thing in Sears Hardware that is a funnel with a long "neck"...probably about 3 feet long. The "bowl" of the funnel sits in amongst the tree branches, high enough so you don't have to bend down or lay on the floor. It has a Velcro strap to hook it around a branch. You then stick the open end of the long funnel neck part down into the tree stand, and you water the tree by pouring the water into the bowl, it runs down the long neck and into the stnd. No more squatting, kneeling, laying on the floor fighting the branches.

Mine's tipped twice. On account of the kitten that climbs to the top branches for her high dive act :sad2:
Did you try a blue spruce?? The needles are pointier so the pets stay away because they prick when they get too close.

The first year we had the dog, we brought the tree in. I think he was thrilled because he thought we had built him his own bathroom!!! ;) Anyway, he went up to sniff the tree, got a needle poke in the nose, never went near it again.

I have known people who have wired the tree to the ceiling so it doesn't fall.

This happened to me last year. No matter what position I put the tree in it still seemed to tilt to one side. I took some fishing line and tied it to the top of the tree and anchored it to the wall behind the tree. It stood up night and straight after that. :)

Hi Briarmom  ,

Sorry to hear about your tree and the ornaments. I'll send you my "american flag" head if you like. I know how these are important to us military wives. Or if you don't want that I will share my radiant red lipstick that I got in the mail today. Seriously got some raidiant red lipstick in the mail!! Wonder from whom? :rotfl2: Put it on and come dacing with me at entertaining the WW11 vets this weekend. You can have the extra tips from table dancing

Hmmmm.... you got RADIANT RED lipstick?? :earseek:

Briarmom - I don't have a tipsy tree - I have one that is shedding its "clothes"! :guilty: Needles are coming off like crazy!

I wanna go dancin' with the two of you! Do they have those swingin' dance cages at the club?

It was goooood fun lemme tell you! Tina made enough money in tips for us to fly to Bermuda for the week! When I got back, my tree was still standing, but the Radiant Red lipstick was gone. :teeth: Needless to say, we drank for free while we were on our trip. :smooth:

You know what, Briarmom? You're evil -- just plain flat-out evil!

And to think I was going to send you my blue glitter eyeshadow!

Our real tree (first one we had in years) tipped over twice... once on my DD. Now this was a HUGE 10ft tree. Luckily she didn't get hurt. The second time it completely fell over and a few ornaments broke.. AND it trapped me in my kitchen. DH had to come home and move it. He moved it all the way out to the curb and then we drove ourselves to Loews and bought a lovely 8 ft prelit articifial tree.

Never again.

:guilty: I haven't been able to find you. :confused3
I wanted to have a sleep over last weekend, but you never answered my invite. :guilty:

OK, this weekend, we ARE going on a trip. You pick! :teeth:
Although, my dh gets home and my parents get here tomorrow...you will have to bring the cardboard cutout of me.
