My Travel Flights

We going with Direct Holidays/My Travel from Manchester in July. I booked flight only with no extras such as meals or pre-booked seats.

My plan is to stuff ourselves in a restaurant before the flight and carry on board snacks and water. I have two questions for anybody who might know the answers:

1. Can anyone recommend anywhere in particular in T1 Manchester for decent meals at less than outrageous prices, or are they all just the usual overpriced, undersized, plastic-tasting rip-off joints?

2. Is it possible to buy just a cup of tea or coffee on My Travel flights if you haven't booked the meals?

I've just been looking at http://www.airlinequality.com/Forum/my_travel.htm which makes me pleased that I didn't pay extra for the on-board meals.

I think you've hit the nail on the head from my experience of Manchester airport it has the usual overpriced stuff. My best suggestion would be to get something outside the airport if you have the time. I suppose it depends what time you fly really and whether there would be anything open in the time you have previous. Only thing that is the same price is the meal deals in boots!

My sister raves about the Lancaster Grill, it`s not in the TI departure lounge but on the first floor off the main concourse. Never tried it myself though!

To be honest I've just remembered about what happened when we last flew mytravel to Gran Canaria the year before last. You my well find that they serve you with the meals even though you haven't booked them because they did us - I didn't book them because the kids don't like them anyway and for the length of our flight I didn't think it was worth £10 each for what you get. So you never know you might get meals on the plane. I imagine it would be very difficult for the crew to distinguish who has paid and who hasn't I would think.
