My time to need some prayers

Prayers to you and your loved ones! Shan....thank you! You had the courage to say what many would have loved to!

Lord God -- holy, mighty and good -- we praise you and thank you for your unmerited love and mercy demonstrated toward us, both rebels and children: sinners all. We pray a special measure of your grace for this stricken man, that your name might be praised as we witness a miraculous recovery. We ask that you would bring your comforter, the Holy Spirit, alongside those in anguish and pain. We ask that you would supernaturally enable those who would minister in these times of trouble, that they might speak your words, which are uniquely powerful. While we hope for healing, we realize that our thoughts are not your thoughts, and in our finite smallness we confess that we do not always understand, help us to trust. May you be high and exalted, we pray in the strong name of Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Karla- sending lots of prayers out for your friend and his family.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers. I'm afraid there has been no change in his condition, but at least it hasn't worstened (sp?-even a word??). Still on life support. There is something I do want to mention, forgive me if I get a little sappy. One of the things that has REALLY hit home for me is the fact that my girlfriend keeps saying "I just pray that he knows how much I love him. I wish he could feel my hugs and hear me say it". So.....sniff, sniff, (sorry), PLEASE don't EVER miss an opportunity to give your loved ones a hug/kiss and tell them that you love them. I know you know it, and they know it, but it doesn't get old to hear it being said.

Special thanks to Shannon for that beautiful prayer. I printed it out and have been reading it quite a few times each day, thank you again.

Here's keeping our fingers crossed.

Karla, I just wanted to ask that you keep us up to date. Still praying.

(in other words, this is a shameless BUMP)

Ok, now is not the time for political correctness. If Christianity offends you, avert your eyes.

That was absolutely beautiful

Our prayers are with you and your friends/family Karla.

Shan-man, I will keep that prayer nearby - never been said any better.

Karla, any update on how your friend is doing? I'll continue to hold him and his family in my prayers.

more thoughts and prayers on the way.

Hi everyone! Dave is still at Mass General on life support and dialysis, but they were able to take him off two of the medications (not sure which ones), and he was able to breath on his own for about 10 minutes the other night. I'm not sure what the protocol is as far as how often or how long they do that (let him breath on his own), but in my untrained mind, if he's able to do it, it must be a good sign?

Thank you all again for your thoughts and prayers - I think they're working!!

We're praying for your friend. You can never underestimate the power of prayer and being put on as many prayer lists as possible.
Our prayers are with you.
Karen

Karla, sounds like your friend is a fighter, and I will continue to pray for him and his family.

Karla,

That is wonderful news. Tell your friend to hang in there, it is hard to sit by the bedside everyday and wait, believe-I've been there, but prayer is the best thing she can do. My family has been given more second chances then we are probably allowed, and I believe it was prayer that gave them to us.

You are so right about taking every chance you have to let your loved ones know how you feel. Since Jim's accident we don't let anything go by unsaid, and we don't put things off either. Many people ask why we go to Disney every year. My answer is because I don't know if there will be a chance next year, so we go because we can now. Stupid things happen, and you don't see them coming. The best advice I give everyone that asks me about Jim and our life after his accident is-Do what you can NOW, don't say, well, maybe next summer we will get to it. I thank God everyday that in April of 2003 we took a family vacation that we really shouldn't have been taking because of our financial situation. But that was the last vacation we took that my kids were able to run around and play normally with their Dad. We didn't see that coming.

Karla, your friends and their family are in my prayers.

GREAT NEWS!!!! Dave was taken off all of the meds (except the antibiotics and his regular bp meds) and machines a couple of days ago, and we just heard that he woke up and actually talked a few words!!!!!!!!!!! He is still very weak and will stay in ICU for a few more days before they move him, but all things considered, this is amazing!
The doctors really don't know what to make of it, as they didn't think he would survive, let alone regain conciousness!

I truley believe that there is a God, and he heard all of our prayers. I thank you again everyone, SO MUCH ~ I believe your thoughts and prayers are the reason for this miracle!!!!
