My thyroid update

After a 3 1/2 week long wait, I finally had my fine needle biopsy today. My DH and DD are still up atthe cottage where we were vacationing. I took the train home Wednesday to make it to today's appointment.
It hurt. Six insertions. I miss DD and DH so much. I feel so alone.
Results are expected next week.

Yeah, it's a nasty procedure. I had one done in 2000. Forget how many times they stuck me but I think it was 3. My results were inconclusive but they did find suspicious cells and I had my thyroid removed. The final results showed I did not have cancer.

Is there anyone who could come and stay with you for the night? Hope you feel better soon and the test results are good news.

My mom had this done a little over a year ago. Her results were also inconclusive. I believe that she had 1/2 of her thyroid removed.

Hoping your results come back fine.

hope you feel better! I know waiting for the results is the worst part...i had half my thyroid out when i was 8 and the rest when i was 15..Good luck!

I have walked in your shoes. My first thyroid FNA was in 1992. I have had a series over the years. My New Orleans doc was able to do it in one pass, my doc here took two times once.

I think six times is horrible.

I can understand exactly how unnerved you must be.

I am hoping you are able to distract yourself until you receive your results. Good luck!

They skipped my biopsy in the office because they were so certain it was cancer. Whisked me straight to surgery and removed 1/2 and it wasn't cancerous. Thyroid cancer is very rare!! Think good thoughts! Sorry you are alone tonight

I never had the FNA as my surgeon really felt he just wanted to take it out. I have heard of people being stuck as much as 11 times. You will probably be sore and have some bruising. I hope you feel better soon and I am hoping for good results.
