Just for fun, showing how crappy 1 bed value is in DVC

We’re here in a BLT 1br at the moment for marathon weekend.
I get the whole crappy value thing on a per point basis, but it really is a fantastic room - especially if you get a standard view that overlooks space mountain and the castle as ours does!
There are four adults in the room, which I was worried would be crowded, but with the second bathroom there is plenty of space to allow enough privacy (with close friends). For 210 points it is great value, plus I would never consider doing a stay without the washer dryer when we are running.

Totally forgot about the Marathon this weekend. We were planning on driving down, but might wait until next weekend. Good luck this weekend!

1 Bedroom Villa: Studio

1 Bedroom Villas are a luxury….. unless you are my kids… in which case they accuse me of being too cheap to spring for the 2 bedrooms 🤣

I still think many are missing the point of my post. How the point charts are skewed against 1 beds. Yes they are amazing, I still book them for most trips. Im not bashing 1 beds. Im not advocating to stay in studios.
It’s a good real world example of how studios and 2 bedrooms are “underpriced” and 1 bedrooms are “overpriced”.

I think the there is ambiguity in the word “value”.

To some people value means “economical” whereas to others it means “importance, worth, or usefulness of something”.

The English language is fun. 😁

We're 1 bedroom people, and I agree. I don't like at all that they're double the studio price. I didn't agree to buy into DVC though for studio stays. In my opinion, I was just fine with our regular room packages, and the way we travelled, (value and moderate,) before finally buying. Studios to me are just hotel rooms, BUT with much, much better locations. DH sold me on DVC by showing me the 1 and 2 bedrooms with full kitchens, washer/dryer, etc.
We did buy where we planned to stay, but more than that, we bought close the parks DH thought/presumed we'd be going to the most: BWV to be able to walk to Epcot and HS. And he was so right!
Now, all that said, DH has 2 trips booked so far for next year...both BWV studios, BUT even owning there, and checking at 11 months, NO standard studios available....so, for now, they're BW views. Maybe we can become studio people, we'll see. We'd sure make our points go a lot farther that way.

Before I start reading more about how people would rather die before sleeping in the same room as their kids or using a communal laundry room, I'll say that there are different strokes for different folks. I visit WDW a bit often to make use of my AP, and my child is the only one ready to go EVERY time I go. So while 1bdr's are great when more of the fam travels, I love our studio stays when it's just he and I because we can spread out 1 person per bed in a studio for 150pts vs 345pts, and I utilize the valet laundry service when I don't feel like going to a laundry room. The great thing about DVC is that there is something for everyone, and so many ways to Disney. I appreciate the OP for noting the difference in monetary-ish value while still being able to appreciate and love 1Bdr units.

The calculations are based on square footage and that is why you see the jump from studio to 1bedroom but not the same jump to the 2 bedroom.

But, for those who are cash guests, they tend to look at accompany and not “home away from home” so the pricing structure would reflect that!!

Interesting I never saw this mentioned before as to why. That’s good to know there is a logic behind it.
