My take on Carribean Beach...

I too will not be staying at CBR again.

The facilities are just too small for such a big resort. We were there 3/12-3/20 while the Cheerleading competition was going on, and the resort was at capacity. 3 mornings in a row I gave up on trying to eat breakfast or even get a cup of coffee with my refillable mug because the food court was so packed you couldn't breathe. The people I dealt with were nice enough, and we were impressed with how pretty the lake and how nice the beaches were, but the tightness of the food court, combined with the 15 minute walk to get to it, along with the packed buses made me long for my last trip to the All-Stars.
We were there the EXACT same time that you were (we arrived one day after you) ****** Oops.... edited to add: we were there from 2/13 - 2/20 (in FEB, not March.... sorry) ****** (but the cheerleaders were there when we were there too) and we LOVED our stay at CBR.
The Food court may have been a little busy in the morning, but I didn't think it was that bad (there were always plenty of places to sit).
We were in Jamaica 46 which is just across the bridge from the food court so it wasn't too bad of a walk. I am assuming you were in one of the buildings that are far away from the food court?

Both times that we stayed at CBR, we have had problems with roaches crawling on the floor and one time on the bed inside the bedsheets. And one time we had a problem with the drainage in the tub. Never at any other resorts did we have any problems with roaches.

The front desk are very much aware of this problems, I have called them numerous times. But...

It was Sept 2000 (husband jumped right off the bed when the cockroach got trapped in the bedsheet with him! And we saw a couple on the floor running towards the wall. And when he took a shower, the water just kept rising, the drainage was clogged or something. ~Jamaica #45 2nd floor~

Then June 2003 (it was just me and the kids). We stayed in the room where the carpet was wet by the air/heater. The smell was...UCK. They said they were going to fix the air/heater, they didn't get there until very late that afternoon. Then they sent the carpet blow dryer and we had it on all day. Well.. later come to find out that they didn't fix it right, so it was still leaking and no wonder our carpet never dried. Called them up, again, it was late that afternoon. We kept that blow dryer all day and all night long. Sleeping through that dryer is not easy, let alone the smell of the wet carpet! Then on our third day we saw some cockroaches running around. Soooo... That was it! I had enough! I called told them that I was going down to the front desk and checking out and told them I had enough of that room.

I tried so hard to like this resort...but I don't think this resort likes me!

Checked in at CSR....AHHHhhh...NICE...Smells FRESH...Very CLEAN. The service was definitely better here. I love CSR!!

We love CBR and have stayed at CS and gone to look at other resorts and we always come back to CBR, even over GF. Everyone has their own taste and likes and dislikes, so while you may hate it, others may love it. We have never had any problems at CBR and look forward to going back year after year.

Roaches... :earseek: OMG!! I thought the crusty poop smear on our toilet (not our poop!!) was bad but roaches....jeez!! BTW we requested mousekeeping a few times to clean it and they never did...I had to...so gross!! :sad2:

Stayed there twice(both times in July) and Loved it both times,. Martinique, right by the food court, think I got lucky there, and other time in J :wizard: amiaca, lovely walk across the bridge. I agree the main pool is crowded and full of unruly kids, so we just used the quiet pools, sometimes in the middle of the day there weren;t 20 people in a large pool, often less then that, plus plenty of pool side lounging.

I always loved the theming, the tropical plants, bright colors and the always happy carribean music that played everywhere. I also thought the gift shop was great, much better then the one at WL.

As for the foods court......gourmet dining its not, but it was possible to get a decent meal there. I never encountered crowds so big that we could not find a table or crowds so large that I could not get a cup of tea in my refillale mug. Would I stay there again, yes, both times we were there I found the bus service to be very efficient. With DW so spread out now, it is going to take a while to get places no matter where you stay or what you pay.

This is very simple...it you ask people who stayed in TS...90% of them will hate CBR. If you ask people who stayed anywhere other than TS...90% of them will love CBR.

We stayed in TN and we have a great time at CBR in a not so crowded May.

We stayed in TS this past Jan and loved it. The walk to the food court was a leisurely 10 minutes. The whole resort was beautiful and clean. The quiet pool was fantastic. I requested TS and glad I did, it was like having our own private resort. It was so quiet in the evening, making getting a good nights sleep very easy. We thought the food selection at the food court was fine, we basicly eat this type of food all of the time, so no complaints there. The bus service was great, only once did we wait over 10 minutes for a bus. The only reason we are not staying at CBR again next Jan is due to we want to try all of the moderate resorts, so POFQ is up next. I would definetely recommend CBR and in particular Trinidad South if you want a quiet area around your room. :earsboy:

Oh my gosh... I think I would take the roaches over the poop! YUCK! And to clean it yourself that's not even yours.. Now that is gross!! :earseek: Eeek! :earseek:

Fantasia....hands down CBR was a complete disaster. My MIL was vacationing with us at the time at got us both a $79 per night FL. discount rate. We were ready to check out night one....it was so disgusting. My MIL who is so easy to please was totally grossed out too. The main pool was covered in stringy hair and nasty old bandaids. I honestly could not believe it. We have been to WDW before and this was a disgrace. The whole place (even though it was just renovated) seemed DIRTY!! My then 3 year old noticed the poop smear as soon as we got into our room....he started crying because he didn't want to go potty in there. After a few requests to mousekeeping "I" finally had to clean it myself!! We stayed at POP Century last year and totally loved it!! I myself and my Inlaws vowed to never stay at CBR again!!

The walks around the resort were completely bearable and even kind of enjoyable. The problem comes when taking the buses. It takes forever for a bus to get where it's going, especially when it has to circle the entire resort before it leaves. Maybe it's just me but the stop lights in Florida seemed like they took absolutely forever. Anyways there's no option there so don't let that take away from you Caribbean beach experience.

:rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: The sad thing is I would too!

So who here believes in the "resort curse fairy?" I DO! The little ticked off firefly (related to Tinkerbell) flies around aimlessly dropping acrid dust onto people while they walk around and CURSES them for their resort stay!

Fantasia, obviously you have been given 10 times the normal dose! *gets our fly swatter* BAD FAIRY! BAD! THATS FOR GIVING ME BAD LUCK AT THE GRAND FLORIDIAN! STUPID BUG! I LIKE THE TROPICAL, 6 INCH LONG COCKROACHS BETTER THAN YOU LITTLE FIREFLY!!!!!

*breaths in breaths out*

Seriously though...the resort cursing fairy needs to be stopped..then we could all enjoy whatever hotel we stayed at just as much as our last one.

Now then theres that bewitching fairy...the one that makes it impossible for us to look at any other resort for fear of betraying our home one... Man...I got a triple does of that for the CBR I'm telling ya! :cool1: :earseek:

Last year we stayed at CBR and didn't find anything rong with it at all!
The food service was great(and yummy!) the pools were fine (especially the Barbados pool because there was like, no-one there!) and even the walk from Barbados to the food courts etc. was fun!!
I just loved the whole atmosphere of the place and it was our first time staying at a disney resort in Florida!

The room was cleaned everyday and there was no problems at all!!!
Well that's a lie some little kid had jumped in the pool and hit his head off the bottom and stopped breathing and got taken to hopsicle :guilty:
but hey if you don't watch your kids :confused3
