Hey! This is my one night/2 day trip report!
------------------------------------------
DAY 1
We got up really early and drove to Orlando. We arrived between 8 and 8:30 AM.
We got a standard room again, but this time with entertainment rate (can anyone explain how good the AP rate is? We always forget we get a discount at hotels).
We got our room number: 1331 on floor level 3 (same level as the lobby). We walked down a VERY long hall (it was the 2nd to last room) BUT when we got to the room, we were VERY pleased.
Last time we had a boring view of the highway and buildings. This time, even though there was a palm tree right in front of our window we could see Dr. Doom's and a little part of the Hulk!
Also, we saw the river the water taxis travel on and the walking path! It was a really beautiful view!! And yes, the palm tree was right in front of our window but didn't completely block out our view...besides it was a pretty palm tree! lol.
Last time, we had a huge bathroom with a vanity, toliet, and bathtub/showever. This time, the sink/vanity was seperated from the bathroom. Even though this made the bathroom much much smaller, it was nice to be able to clean up at the sink when someone else was in the bathroom.
I brought my camera again and we walked over to Universal Studios (we had just missed the water taxi). When we got there, we entered the line for AP holder/hotel guests only. We fit into both categories, and the line was shorter, so we went there.
We got our show scheduele (which I find VERY funny because we know all the showtimes for Ghostbusters already...) and headed to Men in Black.
We rode MIB 5 times, then went on BTTF once. First floor! Yeah!! We then went back and rode MIB about 2 more times.
My mom and I then went to go to the Ghostbusters Show (surprise...surprise...). It was about 11 AM and so the show would start in only 30 minutes (meaning people would show up any minute). I sat in my usual spot but had my mom stay there while I went in the shade for a while (she doesn't mind the heat at all...whereas I do). We saw the show and loved it.
After that we decided to get lunch. We ate at Hard Rock Cafe, leaving from the side entrance/exit of Universal Studios so we didn't have to walk around too far.
After we ate, my parents wanted to go swimming. I was going to play my Playstation 2 (we brought it front home and they have the audio and video jacks so you can plug it in).
I ended up falling asleep (only slept for 2 hours the night before. A cross between excitement and being bugged by my kitty). My parents woke me up at 4 PM so we could see the last Ghostbuster Show. Let's just say I didn't even really remember being woken up!! My mom ended up taking a nap and we got up around 7:30 PM!!!
Oh and let me tell you! The beds and pillows are MUCH more comfortable than I remembered!
Anyway, we were going to head over to Islands of Adventure so we could enjoyt he park and then see fireworks. But first we were going to get dinner. We were heading to the water taxi when we were told it was shut down due to nearby lightning. Lightning? Sure enough, we saw dark clouds in the sky nearby. We were going to take a shuttle to Citywalk but we changed our minds because if it was going to storm we didn't want to get stuck in it.
We looked around the hotel for a restaurant but, me, being the picky eater I am, turned up my nose everywhere (sorry!). We wanted to get pizza delivered but did not know which number to call that would drive to the hotel. So, my dad decided to take a drive to find somewhere with pizza.
While he left, the storm got closer and more dangerous. Even turned severe. Hail, damaging winds all around us. But what freaked me out was the "rotation" near Sea World. A news channel gave an unofficial "pre warning" of a tornado near Sea World. YIKES!!!!! I left the hotel room and walked around the lobby where a lot of people are (during bad storms I like being around a lot of people). My mom bought same chocolate and a pack of cards at the gift shop. We played War until my dad got back to the hotel. I didn't care for the pizza. It was the flimsy kind with barely any sauce...plus he got plain cheese pizza because he doesn't like pepperoni (couldn't he have just picked it off? Or at least get it on half? Guess not...). I ate one slice but didn't like it.
We were going to watch an Oncommand movie but since my mom already paid, she'd have to go up to the front desk to order a movie. She was going to, but I decided that we could just hook up my PS2 and watch my MIB2 DVD. So we did.
As we watched, the storm died down and we ended up sleeping well that night.
------------------------------------------
DAY 2
My dad woke me up at 8:30 AM so I could get to the aprk when it opened. But I was sooo unbelievably comfortable that I just laid there for another hour. I then reluctantly got up and got ready. My mom was still sleeping when I left and my dad went to get ice. I took the water taxi over and went straight to Universal Studios.
I went on MIB a couple times (by the time I got to the park it was a few minutes after 10:00) and then headed over to the Ghostbusters at about 15 till 11 AM (so I could go around and take a few pictures).
I called my parents because I knew my mom would want to join me for Ghostbusters (she's almost as big a fan as me...almost...hehe). They had packed up the car. My mom was taking the water taxi over and my dad was parking the car in the parking garage.
The show started and finished but I didn't meet up with my parents until after the show. They got there right after it started but saw most of it.
We walked around a little and saw a sign that said something about an advertisement being in production that day!! How cool! I wanted to be a part of it, but had no information about it so I just moped a little and then cheered up at the next Ghostbusters Show.
We then got lunch. My dad went on Shrek while my mom and I got carryout of my Buffalo Chicken. We went up to the bar area and the guy recognized us from Monday! We talked a little bit about me wanting to study film (and thus why I love U. Studios) and his and my mom's favorite movies and actors. When asked my favorite actor and actress, I did not know what to answer. I used to give much thought about it, but hadn't lately...so I'm not sure. I have to agree with my mom that Harrison Ford was great (especially in the classic Indy Jones movies).
We met up with my dad at La Bamba cafe. By this time I saw the GB car going down towards the show. My mom and I joked that I should get special perks for being a "regular audience member." Like asking for a ride with the Ghostbusters down to the show or at least a reserved seat at the show!! Wouldn't that be cool?!
Anyway, I missed out on that show and I was going to be late for the one after it (well, only 20-25 minutes early...). But I got there and noticed only a couple people there...and sitting on the steps and therefore, my spot was still available. I set my stuff down and went into the shade. Minutes later everyone was shooed off the stage (they didn't know it was the stage) and I went back to my spot. My mom then joined me and we watched the show, yet again. I took only 8 pictures (my mom gave me a look when I took out my camera...she thinks I have enough pictures of the Ghostbusters...I even brought some of the pictures with me to pass time (but not even 1/8 of all the pictures I have)
We went and saw the Horror Makeup show and it finished 15 minutes before the GB Show started so I ran as fast as I could to the stage. Lots of people were sitting on the steps again and 2 girls had my usual spot. I took a seat next to them. For being 10 - 15 minutes before the show started, no music was playing!! Usually they play music 15 minutes before the show starts. My mom joined me and we talked to the girls next to us. They were regular GB Show viewers too. I wonder if they made a CD with the songs from the show...or if that's just me...
Anyway, it was about time for the show to start, and still no music started. Something was up. A little bit later an announcement was made that the show was cancelled due to lightning nearby, but the 2 girls, my mom, and I knew it had to be the sound system REALLY. They were just lucky to have a storm nearby to use it as an excuse so they didn't have to be embarressed about a broken sound system (the girls said that thecomplete sound system had to be replaced at Beetlejuice's Graveyard Revue a couple weeks before).
So I was pretty bummed and saw the Ghostbusters coming down the street (guess they didn't know it was cancelled either!!). They were informed and allowed pictures and autographs. I took a couple pictures and one of the guy in orange who looked right into the camera. He made a comment on my big camera lens. All I could say was "yup."
We went on Shrek since the storm was getting much closer. We had to wait a while and lightning was TERRIBLE!!! I'm surprised I'm not deaf after it. But we eventually got in and by the time we left Shrek (at first I didn't like it much, but it grows on me everytime I ride it) the storm was over. Yay!!
We rode Men in Black a couple more times and I beat my personal record of 555,100!!! This time I got 622,??0!!!!! (don't remember last 3 digits). I was sooooo happy!!!!!
I then headed to Islands of Adventure as my parents went to the car to get a drink. I took pictures of the Hulk and tried some features I never used before (multiple exposure). I hope they turned out well!!
I then met up with my parents again and we went on Spiderman. We then ate an Confisco restraurant at the Port of Entry. I tried their Buffalo Chicken tenders and fries. My dad got a Mushroom Swiss Burger and my mom just ate my celery with blue cheesy dressing. It was VERY good. I'd eat there again!! We finished every single crumb. Yum!!!!
We then split again and I took more pictures. We then met up where we'd see the fireworks and I gave my camera and bag to my dad and went to ride the Hulk. I came back and stayed and waited for the fireworks to start. The fireworks were great. I took some pictures but only 8 (in case they didn't turn out well like my other 2 firework pictures). We then left SLOWLY from IOA (due to the large crowd...figuring people from IOA and US....) and when we got to Citywalk I took a few pictures of the nighttime scene. Especially the US globe at night.
We left to go home and here I am now. Too bad. I wish I was still back at Universal!! I had a blast and can't wait until I go back!
Well...I think that's all for now. If I forgot anything I'll post it. Have any questions? Just ask!
