They are only about a month old. The ring that holds the strap on broke last week and DH super glued it. Well it came apart again today. I am LIVID as I paid $30 for these, double than I ever paid for his shoes before. My younger son is currently wearing a pair of 3-year-old sandals from Target that were $15.

I bought them at the Stride Rite store but I don't have my receipt. Do you think I'll be able to return/exchange them?

Tell them that you would like another pair (even exchange) or at least a store credit.

If you paid by credit card you would at least have the "statement" with the date showing you purchased them at their store???? The statement would not break it down like a receipt but I have done this before and the store agrees "yes" it did show you had shopped there.

Good Luck!!!

OH OP: tell them the reason you do not have the receipt is you had NO INTENTION of returning them, that your son loved them, they fit him BUT you also never expected them to BREAK!!!!!!!!

That's why I could never trust a plastic shoe. Image if that happened at WDW during a busy day? Uck.

Kids can be pretty rough on shoes, but it does sound like you might have gotten a bum pair.

My strap broke after about 5 months of wear--I got in caught in a taxicab. I just took it to a shoe repair shop. $3 later I had a new rivet and was on my merry way!

I just got back from sending my black Niles to Crocs today!!! They had only been worn twice. They completely ripped at the strap and there was no way to put them back together again! I am very disappointed that they ripped as easily as they did!

I called Crocs and they had me send them back to them along with a copy of my receipt.

Call the Crocs compnay and explain what happened and ask them to send you a package of rivets.

It happened to me with a new pair of crocs back in March, I got the rivets, replaced them...good as new. And they didn't charge me for the rivets either.

I ordered extra rivets from a link on their website. They came pretty quickly (no charge) It must be a common problem.

It's not the rivets that are broken. Its the strap. The circle part that goes around the rivet is torn. I'm going to attempt to take them back to the store next time I'm at the mall, but I'm still not happy. I think I'll take a look at the crocs website too to see if I can get any info.

Ouch! $30 shoes for a little kid when they don't last is hard to swallow. Hope you get it resolved!!

You really shouldn't have any problems - especially at a store like Striderite. They usually can do an even exchange, and then they give them back to Crocs for credit.

FYI- Do you know that it costs 80 cents to make a pair of Crocs? That's not counting distribution, etc. - just the materials.

After my recent experience, I can believe it!!!

Cant all Striderites look up your purchases if you don't have your receipt? I know mine can.

We've had good luck w/ Crocs. I bought my daughter a pair almost two years ago and we've had no problems. She wears them three or four days a week.

I bought her an imitation pair of Crocs at Payless and they split in two after a couple of months.

I bought a pair of Nile crocs last year. In less than ONE day the stupid logo fell right off. Then when I finally used them at Disney they rubbed a painful blister on the top of my foot. I will NEVER buy crocs again. They're a huge rip off for what they are made of and how they are made.

Good. I've never shopped at Stride Rite before so I don't really know how they work.

Eighty cents to make the crocs, huh? Well that's a croc. :rotfl:

Indeed. My son is five and I've never spent more than $20 on shoes for him. This was a special thing for him because "everyone else has them". And he loves these shoes too.

We had a similar problem and I email Crocs through their website. They sent replacement parts free--no receipt necessary. I had added a blurb about how our kids each have several pairs of crocs, so they actually sent several replacement parts. Great customer service, which should be a given for $30 kids shoes. :thumbsup2
