So if any of you are going to be there stop by and take a listen. They will be performing on the Carnation Stage. He performs with the local high school's steel pan band. I don't know what time yet but I will let you know when I find out more.
How exciting! My son is in the music program at his middle school and if he sticks with it, in eighth grade he will get the opportunity to go to Disneyland to perform. I am hoping they will need lots of chaperons for that trip!
DL use to invite high school marching bands to march down Main Street - of course, this was about 25 years ago. Our school went every year. I still remember the thrill of being in a DL parade.
We'll be there and will make a point to watch. DD plays the flute with her school band here in Canada. Is there something going on that weekend or do they normally invite bands to play?
How exciting! I was on the drill team in high school and we were able to do the music program and march in the parade down the parade route! Great memories and then we got to enjoy DL with all our friends!!

I use to march at DL too when I was a teenager marching in a Drum & Bugle Corps. Generally, I didn't like marching in parades but this parade was special. It helped that it was short. My understanding now is that you have to pay to march there now. They do make exceptions for special groups. The alumni Drum Corps I'm marching in will be performing at DL on Jan. 20. We are one of those exceptions probably because in the early 70's, we were the official musical marching representatives for Disneyland (we're an Anaheim based drum corps.) It probably didn't hurt that some of our members work there. We'll be doing the parade and a standstill performance.
No there is nothing special that weekend. They have Magic Music Days and I can't remember what the other program is. They have student bands of different sorts performing there. His band has a Jamacan type sound. They sound great. They didn't charge our band to perform. We just had to send in an audition tape. I am excited because a lot of the students in the band will never have an opportunity to go to Disneyland any other way and this makes a dream come true for them.

Well I will be there. I will probably be video taping because we need another good audition tape for a performance in Seattle. Make sure you stop by and say hello.

My dd will be marching with her High School Marching Band in May at DL. (First they were going in March, then April and now it's May) My dd is in Color Guard. We are from the Portland Oregon area. I'll be flying down to see her march (and have a bit of fun in DL) Little does my dd and other two kids know, we will be surprising them with a family trip to DL just 3 weeks after that, so dd and I will get to be in DL twice in just 3 weeks!
