My son has detention tomorrow

when i was in the ninth grade i got 8 hours of detention for disrupting class.

i was sitting in my chair reading a book. i guess i just breathe too loud! lol:confused3

...my goodness, how DARE you!

My son got a detention last week at our city's most popular catholic high school because he fell asleep in class.....

which I will admit is a detention-able violation.....except.....the teacher told the kids once they finished their test to sit quietly until the end of class. He fell asleep during the sit quietly phase of the class....I mean, how much more quietly can you sit in class??? :lmao:

I'm sorry, Sparx, but I want...no I NEED all the details of this story. 8 hours? Eight HOURS?!? Geeminy Christmas, what were you reading? The Creation Story during Biology class? An erotic graphic novel during Sex Ed?

agnes!

hahhaa. i can't even remember what i was reading. it was the beginning of my freshman year in high school. it was my health class teacher, and she was :scared1: anyway. she wrote six people down for detention one day, and i was just one of the six. every person on the list was marked for "disturbing class" and we all got sent to the principals office together (which i didn't even know the location of. i had never been in trouble before.) and the other kids didn't protest it or anything, but i told the principal that i thought the teacher must have written down the wrong name, for me. since i wasn't doing anything but quietly reading. he started screaming at me, and told me not to disrespect my teacher that way. (?) and sent me back to class with 4 days detention (2 hrs each day, after school.) everyone else only got one day.

then at parent teacher confrences, she proceeded to tell my mom how much of a pleasure i was to having in class, and how good of a student i am.

i hated that woman. haha.

And it's not the teacher's fault? :scared1: That is shocking! ;)

I only had detention like twice in my life but I LOVED it. Seriously. I got all my work done, it was quiet, and I wasn't distracted. Detention is beautiful. :thumbsup2

I agree. I got detention once for 2 days, and yep, got all my homework done, it was quiet and I slept. It really was a nice break.

No detention stories, but just wanted to say cute thread. :goodvibesThx for the laughs.

Please. In her junior year alone, my brat:

1) had detention Saturday morning for 6 consecutive weeks
2) had 2 car accidents
3) hid her report card from me twice.
4) lost a flute, 2 textbooks, 1 jacket and a pair of shoes
5) skipped class and went to the beach 4 times that I know of

Don't get me started on senior year.

She graduated just fine and is now a very lovely, very delightful college student. I swear to God, though, if at 16 she'd had a little sister coming up behind her that I was going to have to deal with .... I would have killed myself. One kid, people. One. It's awesome.

I got detention for kicking a kid's chair out from under him when he was leaning back. He almost hit his head on the desk. I just reconnected with him on Facebook and unfortunately he remembers the incident very well.

No detention yet for my "speshal snowflakes" but man is this thread funny but scary at the same time to think of what I will go through here very soon:scared1:

OMG, did you report the teacher? Did you follow through to the Vice Principal, Principal and the Superintendent?:thumbsup2 j/k

DD11 has started 6th grade this year in a new school. On the first day of orientation, the people showed the students where the detention trailer was.

Funny thing is, when I was in 6th grade, there was no detention, there was you being sent home or the paddle.

In 11th grade I was in detention for a glorious 3 days. My crime?

Well, I went to 2 different schools in 11th and 12th grade, a couple core classes in regular high then 2 classes in a magnet school.

My one main class in magnet was child care. One time we had a substitute teacher and she used to apparently be a drill sargent, no reallly she was in the military then she retired and became a teacher.

Well, she had us do things as if the kids were in the class, but it wasnt a kid class day. So we had to read baby books to the other students and it was just whack.

So, one day, a student came outside and told us that the crazy teacher was there. All of us decided not to go in. And we could have gotten away with it except this one student. There were times that the other students who also went to different schools didn't come because of the main school had a function, etc.

3 days in the main schools ISS. The teacher asked us why we were there and what we learned from it. It wasn't bad at all, except, when we went back to the magnet school, our regular teacher wasn't happy.

My DD got detention a few times. :rolleyes1 Once was for flipping a tiny piece of a cracker on her friends tray. It was so small her friend didn't even see it.

What was funnier was she got lunch detention for it and said it was a joke.
The kids would tell the teacher, aide etc what they wanted to buy from the cafeteria and it would be delivered to them like they were at a restaurant. They all loved it. :rotfl:

One measly detention?? Pffft, that's nothing. I was the first parent of the year called in for a conf with the principal - on the 4th day of school. Haha - take that!! :rolleyes1

Well.....I was trying to refrain from bragging.....

He had ISS one time and loved it so much he asked admin if he could just go there every day. :lmao:

Did you drop by the detention room with homemade cookies?:cloud9:

I got lunch detention a few times, for little things though.
I heard about this one kid at my old school who bumped into a teacher and he said sorry to the teacher right after the whistle signaling to be quiet blew. Then he got lunch detention. Is it just me or is that insanity? Poor guy...

Ooooh, I forgot about ISS. I remember getting that on purpose on a few occasions. What is it they say about the apple and the tree.....? ;)
